The male joint of my No6 section has broken off inside the female joint of the No5 section leaving only approx 1 inch sticking out. I’ve tried simply pulling it, then resorted to pliers as the No6 section is doomed anyway, this has only separated the carbon layers leaving me virtually nothing to get hold of to pull now.

What’s the best way to remove the male joint from the female joint if there’s nothing to grab hold of?

Would heating it in hot water help?

        Any suggestions?

Try using an expander bung to grip it.

shove a top kit (or a no4 if it fits) in from the other end to push it out!

Or try get a hack saw blade, put the no 5 on a table, and gently cut the broken peice in 3 or 4 places, dont cut right though, as you dont want to damage the no 5, but keep niggling it untill it comes out with you fingers.

Thanks for all the suggestions … but the winner is……

                    Nigel and the hacksaw suggestion!

I tried glueing lolly sticks to the inside of the broken joint (left overnight) but the glue gave way before the joint moved. I got a new / sharp hacksaw blade and after the 6th cut I was able to slide it out. As Nigel says DONT GO ALL THE WAY THROUGH and it doesn’t have to be the full length of the broken joint either.

                    Cheers All
