I’m currently using Shimano GTMs but they are suffering with the hard work! Looking for strong new reels – can anyone recommend a good reel for heavy carp wag fishing. 0.20 line and fish to low doubles.

You need proper reels for that: Daiwa TDR, TDX or Certate. Caldia X maybe. Don’t know what you’ve got in Oz Daiwa-wise because they change names world-wide. Front drag is a must.

Daiwa Caldia X,is a great workhorse of a reel. 🙂

I would go for any top end Daiwa around the 2500-3000 spool size.

I use these that I brought in the States when they first appered a few years back. I doubt I would ever wear them out. Have caught thousands of pound of carp on them pellet wag fishing and they are showing no signs of wear!

I quite like the look of these 😀

I’ve always used front drag Shimano Stradic 4000s, never had an issue, catch lots of fish with them.
