TF_geepsterParticipantNow that the dist is settling and traffic is back to where it was, I’m thinking about site developments.
Would users out there be keen on a chat facilty and if so how would you see it best used – for instance it could be on all the time; or only during certain times of the evening….
Just looking for some thoughts….

TF_ChavenderParticipantchat rooms are great for .Q&A sessions with star names ,get a star name too come on and answer questions live ,have a host ,someone too intervene between questions and referee the session ,select who from those online too ask next question ,and keep things orderly .

TF_Waveney OneI would not use it personally, I spend too much time on here as it is 🙂
I am sure that some would use it though, especially if you had some top names guesting from time to time. The chat rooms that are open all the time are invariably empty as far as I can see. I would advocate the approach that chavender suggests.
Ban Football from it though!

TF_steve rChatboxes are fine as long as they’re kept for general chit-chat but more often than not it will end up with a lot of technical infomation being given out which would be better served posted on their own threads. You lose that info as it gets deleted from the chatbox and the amount of proper threads drops off as everyone starts using the chatbox because responses are quicker.
So in a word, yes, as long as it’s just chat !

1) I was looking at a chat facility five years ago just couldn’t afford it on the old platform
2) Nobody is copying anyone it’s a natural possible progression for any community site; fishing or otherwise…
I’m not totally convinced tho, hence I’m asking for people’s opinions…. -

I’m not totally convinced tho, hence I’m asking for people’s opinions….Hi geeps,
My opinion about a chatbox facility is well documented on MFS , i am of the opinion that a forum should be judged by its threads and information they provide through a thread not tittle tattle that goes through a chatbox ! HOWEVER a chatbox can provide some very useful last minute info / contact info etc, etc if used correctly, I dont want to get drawn into anything between TF and MFS as it leads to fall outs and they have just had plenty of them recently on MFS …….
but hey life goes on ! 🙂 😎

TF_jaap stamA chat facility is great if it`s used just for chat, not full blown “threads ” that should be posted in the appropriate forum section.
