TF_AdzTParticipantWhich county has the best team on paper? Just read the times and Hampshire look quite strong.

TF_DATTotally biased reply, think that the kent top 3 of stevie holmewod, martin trice and lee palmer are all fantastic attacking anglers. If the fish feed and big weights are on then watch out for these 3 lads.

TF_welshmagicHampshire team is very strong and I fancy them to win it. That’s why I was so gutted to just miss out in 7th place as I would have had a decent chance of £2,000 with William,Tommy,Pemb and Myles carrying me!

TF_welshmagicThe final is at Barston and Packington in 3 weeks so it’s unlikely to be an attacking/hauling match

Lee ThorntonSorry, can’t really take this comp seriously any more, in my county the semi was organised for when half the field were in Ireland, then nobody fished the semi, a false results sheet was sent showing ten anglers fishing with a chosen top five. Joke!

TF_Tim_DLee, I tried to get the match moved to the following weekend – it was moved but then moved back to the 19th so fished xdrove instead which was dogpoo. Semi matches should be fished at a neutral venues in a neighbouring county.

lockieLee have I understood you right your county had no semi match just picked a team of five to fish the final writen on a fake result sheet. Apologies if Ive got the wrong end of the stick.
Which county are you in Lee

Lee ThorntonYeah Decoy match, I opted out partly due to the fact that I wouldn’t get to practise due to being at whiteacres but also because I knew half the field wouldn’t even be in the country and I couldn’t justify a seven hour round trip for a 10 pegger. I’m working in Liverpool at the mo b4 any body says it should b local if it’s a county match!
I just can’t believe that a team has been selected with nobody having fished qualifier. I feel sorry for the people who finished outside the top twenty who would of loved to fish our semi, they’ve all been cheated by a select few, and the angling times has accepted it. -

TF_fiskyLee as far as I understand it, five anglers turned up for the cambs qualifier at decoy. As five go through, there was little point in them fishing a knockout match so they all joined the open and these five will fish the final for Cambs.
In all the qualifiers whichever date and venue was picked you would not be able to please everybody and in some counties the match was successfully rearranged. Not sure this was possible with Cambs because of other match bookings at fisheries – hope you are able to make the qualifier next time mate. -

basherParticipantThe Warwicksire team looks very good, considering its made up of Packington regulars, and two previous winners of the Barston Bowl !!

spot on about the neighbouring county, also some counties have 20 class anglers in the top 20 ,small counties have just a few and some clubbies have got thro, wasting their time in the final
West mids and warwickshire will be THE teams to beat, plenty of counties have a few names thro but are paired with not so good anglers -

Lee ThorntonBen, 4 turned up, 1 didn’t make it as he was I’ll, none of them fished, surely everyone in the top twenty have equal rights as these to fish. No body fished the qualifier, why did I get told by somebody who deals with the results at AT that ten names where on the results sheet?
I just don’t see how five can be picked from a qualifier that never happened?
Who was supposed to be running the event by the way? -

Whats wrong with clubbies getting through??
Just because there clubbies doesn’t make them poor Anglers, they’ve got as much chance as anyone.

TF_rocketFeederclubbies who have qualified by scoring points in open matches – open question, when does a clubbie become an open angler? ~think

TF_Nigel.The warwickshire lads fish Packington mainly, and the West mids lads (Rob Cooksey, Steve Chester, Lee Richards, Chris Hill, and Mal Watson,) fish the other side of the Midlands, so no major advantage to those lads.
Yorkshire have a good team, Nick Speed, Jammie Mason, Andy Oldhams bro, Andy Kinder and Paul Mckinntrye! -

Austin53ParticipantI can’t see the problem with the Decoy qualifier,
If 5 anglers turned up on the day then what is the point of fishing for a place when 5 are needed to form the team,
Should they have cancelled it on the day and asked all the anglers in the top 20 when they could make it,
All I can say is good luck to all those that have made the final, including the Cambridge squad.

TF_fiskyLee I can see where you’re coming from but the point I’m trying to make, as is the poster above, is what was the point of them fishing? On some other qualifers only 8 have fished, on others the full 20 has (either way every other county has run smoothly).
Ok you were ill but if you’d turned up the match would have to have been fished and you’d have had a 5/6 chance of getting through. Why should the anglers who did turn up on the day to fish be penalised by the qualifier being postponed? -

TF_ropaBen, can you change next years final to a Saturday please. This years final clashes with A/Times W/League rounds, due to this we have 4 anglers unavailable for the winter league through it. No doubt other teams in the country having similar problems. Cheers

TF_markmrocketfeeder most if not all club anglers are also open match anglers aswell. Its just that alot are also in clubs thats how they qualify for the garbolino club angler of the year whitch for me makes it a load of rubbish when you have a genuine club only 6 match a year angler fishing against someone who fishes 3 or 4 times a week on paper theve no chance.I only fish opens so most of the semi finalist at lindholme in this years g.c.a.o.t.y were known to me as very good open matchmen from around sheffield & yorkshire. Its the same with the southern semi aswell.
