Anonymousperhaps angling times can put a bit more thought into putting it on a decent venue as the last 2 yrs have proved its not a worthy venue as many other anglers will agree

TF_rookery54Tony
Where would you suggest holding it next year
Not being funny but trying to organise a match for over 200 anglers from all over the country must be a nightmare
I know there are other venues but are they central?
My two lads fished on Saturday and travelled up on thursday to practise they didn’t complain about the hotels, diesel etc they just wanted to take part
as it happens one of them picked up for 4th place and the team shared any winnings around so everyone got something backThe only gripe was why do you have to pay £2 to drive onto the venue!!!!

Anonymoussurely theres another venue around perhaps makins or earlswood only from past experience its not really a fair venue

TF_HatManI was very surprised that there weren’t some better weights, especially as the weather had settled at gas mark 9 for a few days, but it seems this switched them off at a few venues.
What alternative venues are there though? Can Makins or the Glebe take 200? Lindholme can take that amount of pressure fairly well, but its over 100 miles from the centre of England.

TF_fiskyIt’s not just about finding a venue, or venues within close proximity, which is/are capable of holding 230 anglers, it’s about having a venue capable of holding this many at a draw too (and car parking space) which is one major plus point of Barston (facilities here second to none). Tony did you honestly expect loads of weights on the hottest october day in history? Makins is a fair shout but even one of the nearby pubs wouldnt be big enough, I did a Fish O there a couple of years back and that was a tight squeeze at the Axe and Compass with just over half the anglers that fish the CC final!

TF_lockyone thing why does the final always have to be central. Surely thats an advantage to the midlands teams. Should be moved around the country, why should the people in the midlands never have to travel? The winter league final this year is going to be up north so why cant the county champs be moved north or south?.
Monk lake in kent could easily hold the 200 peg final and theres plenty of parking behind your pegs in some cases

TF_fiskyLockie it’s central so that everybody can realistically fish. A team of lads from Scotland fished this year, can you imagine them travelling to Monk Lakes, likewise it wouldn’t be fair on the lads in Cornwall to put the final in Yorkshire for example. I don’t think the Midlands teams have any advantage – in the two years it has been going it has been won by South Yorks and now Lincolnshire, neither team being very local or familiar with the venues! On both times it has come down to the team that adapted on the day (and a good draw helped no ends too offcourse).
