right im experiencing something rather strange! everytime i lift and drop my rig the pole seems to be creeking and just is not a sound that anyone wants to hear.

its an airity and the creeks seem to be coming from 6 and 7 sections also the second grapics section.

yet on inspection the sections are solid with no signs of cracks or anything. only started happening after i put the preston carbon spray on the joints! not sure if that has anything to do with it??

ive also had two ton plus weights fishing the full pole since ive noticed the creeking so it hasnt gone yet?

im just confused…. has anyone else experienced this?

hi mate this can happen ,its the joints rocking a little this usually dissapears with time once the joints wear in , you will find this gets worse in bright sun light .
ive had this on two poles before and my elite 77 does it, i must admit it can be annoying.

it can be stopped by removing the carbon spray and replacing it with candle wax, which also protects the joints, but don’t get dirt in the wax on a hot day, as you’ll need to remove it and start again.

another good tip from another forum was to put one layer of packing tape on the end of the male section apparently that works

I think it may depend on whether its the male or female thats causing the problem . i know that on my TPro i inserted the male no 9 section into the female at an angle and i am sure it has damaged the female slightly . this happened a year ago and since then i have this horrible creaking but so far it hasnt lead to any other problems. i did think about getting the female reinforced to ensure it doesnt crack .

Hi mate, I had this on the 5 & 6 when I bought a tourney pro a few years ago. Luckily the shop swopped the sections. This cured the fault. I only used it once before I took it back tho. It is a very annoying problem. I have just got the new Airity and think it’s a step forward from the Pro, so I hope you resolve it.

I put some paraffin wax on the joints of my Spectron about 6 weeks ago and after 3 weeks the No7 section started making strange noises. Often, I ony had to touch it and it would make a crackling noise; the more I messed with it, the worse it seemed to sound.

It definitely hadn’t been damaged prior to the wax being applied, so I cleaned out the wax from the female end and when I looked at it, there were loads of specs of muck trapped in it. Once it was all gone, there was no more crackling noises.

All the joints have been cleaned of paraffin wax now – I won’t be using it again; regardless of how good people keep telling me it is…

yes well i usually use the sensas teflon spray which i find is spot on! i only picked up the carbon spray by mistake and only noticed it when i first used it!

i think i’ll clean all that carbon spray off and see if it solves my problem like sluicer.

whilst im here what does everybody use to clean sections?

Clean my spectron with slippery eel wipes after every use, the pole is a number of years old and is used every weekend and still in good condition, so much so that the torny I bought 2yrs ago has only been used three times.

Keep dirt out of the inside of the sections with a regular shower of warm water as well. This is what damages the pole when putting together, taking apart and packing away.

Poor fitting joints are what causes creeking, and joints to come apart resulting in breaks & cracks in sections.

told by a pole repair man, that you should always twist the male section very slighty on all joints, as poles are not completly round, under a MICROSCOPE. the little twist helps it lock.
