Used hollow once and it stretched and stretched and stretched compared to the latex I am used to. Someone told me to cut the hollow in half and use a pulla.

        Anybody else do this?

        What are the results like?

Hi canalman. The whole point of hollow is that it stretches and stops fish breaking you. I don’t know what you mean by ‘cutting it in half’ but I have all my hollows (16s down to 5s) through a top two with a pulla bung. At whiteacres recently my mate was getting 6 to 7lb carp in easily using 0.12 line on a similar set up.

generally i will get two kits out of most hollows, hydro been the exception, and have had no problems with it,pulla kits are great-once you get used to them

              Thanks.

When I used it though I felt like I was out of control compared to latex. I literally mean taking the hollow and cutting it in half so I could do two top kits. I was told this would give me much more control. So wondering if anybody done it and if it works well.

Lenthways or sideways? Just use solid, more control, cheaper and no need for horrible pull bungs that drastically shorten the life of the elastic!

No, cut single, sideways into 2 and elasticete 2 top 3s for around £2 and wrap excess round a winder bung and can keep in for years.

After listening to one chap extolling the virtues of half hollow and half dacron to stop fish running I thought I’ll give it a go, however it is a great tactic on smaller carp up to say 5lb to stop them running to far , the problem I found was when they bolt up the peg on a snake lake where you are limited for room, it was only when the no 5 section exploded that I thought maybe not such a great idea, when you can ship back fast without any obstacles like bushes at the side and the carp don’t run big it can up the speed, but when you go to lots different types of fisheries I wouldn’t risk it, also with pulla bungs you can reduce the ammount of elastic without risk to the pole.

I’m with Nathan on this one.

I can never see the point of using a short length of hollow elastic you may as well use a full length of solid!
