Figure of 8, very strong. If you tie it slowly you will understand as you form it why it’s so good, in fact climbers rely on this knot.

Sensas and Preston do a loop tyer that does a figure of eight knot that does a 0.5cm or a 1cm loop, since buying the Sensas loop tyers I have not used a double overhand for about 2 years now and I will never go back now

Agree with Yorkiboy. Got the loop tyers a couple of years ago and they’ve made a huge difference. Also fantastic for getting hooklengths the right length

With the sesnsas loop tyer and a couple of pins it’s possible to have the strong figure 8 and precise lenghts, best of both worlds.

Figure of 8 for 99% of the time because its quicker and easier. You can get the loop size spot on with a cork an a couple of needles set to a predetermined length (along the same lines as the seymo loop typer thingy but more fun because you need to do a bottle of wine first:)).

I only use an overhand loop now and i go over 6 times is with long feeder H/L when fishing a paternoster as it helps the H/L “stand off” reducing tangles on the cast/retrieve.
