when having a butchers at the new carp elite pole the maver rep pointed at the top kit and said that if I wanted to drill a hole in the power kit there was an extra bit of wrap for me to do so.this would enable me to convert it to a pulla kit, what struck me as strange is why they don’t pre drill the hole? if the top kits are strong enough why should the angler have to fcuk around if in the manufacturing process thry can put an extra bit of carbon wrap around the pole then surely they can machine/ pre drill a hole better than the average angler?
next they’l be asking us to cut our top kits back to fit ptfe bushes

In this day and age it should be the finished article not a butchers jobby especially when anglers are paying well over the odds for gear

I think Preston have a patent on the side puller.

Daiwa got round this by incorporating two holes in their puller kits..

That appears to be the definitive answer, Preston are apparantly very hot on persons making after market side pulla kit conversions (commercially) let alone original equipment manufacturers. They can’t stop you converting your own kits, but were you to sell them on a comercial basis apparantly they will chase you to court.

complete joke and a little ironic after all the stuff prestons have “copied”
agree though, anglers shouldnt have to drill the hole! id end up going right through!

The only advantage I can see of a side puller, compared to a puller bung, is if you have a relatively deep swim and you need to play a fish out on a top 4.
Possible solutions are to buy a preston top kit or to fit a puller bung into a number 4 section and elasticate up accordingly.
Someone once said to me that broken 4s would be a thing of the past with puller kits meaning everything would be played out on a top 2.

I wonder how Garbolino, Milo and Browning are getting away with supplying their poles with side pulla’s if Preston have the patent ?? I know the Milo and Garbo are more of a slot than a hole but the Browning ones are the same.

Perhaps the others are fitting drainage holes and us silly anglers think they’re for pulla kits 😉
