Anyone know the definitive regs on this especially with respect to matches ?.An EA baliff today seemed adament they are not to be retained even in matches ! which is news to me and especially relevant since i was on the Div 2 national venue where they are taking everthing bar pellet/corn or bread in their dozens even throughout the heat of the day.
Would ring EA direct but with long weekend and it not emergency wondered if anyone knew craic ? Angling Trust/EA websites seems to have pdf docs full of “recommendations” not reference to actual law.
Whilst we were pro-actively sorting rigs /timings to help stop deep hooking for both eels and anglers benefit so am all for protecting their wellbeing to be returned in good health the “surveys” decreeing them to be still in decline seem a tad hollow. They are taking mag/worm virtually on the drop on the Keadby canal and are a right pain on tidal trent once approaching nightfall .
Perhaps i’m out of touch or have missed some publicity ? but when controlling club baliff says its a load of b…… and knows of no such regs it seems there is need for some greater written info in public domain.
        Thanks in advance for clarification.

Was pleased enough to see the EA guys policing the banks (looking more like marines with stab vests etc) as I buy 3 licences a year one for myself and my two lads so its good to see those not bothering getting rumbled as its the multi rod fish for the table “visitors” they were targetting which is cool.
Further north than normal they made a note to contact their own in house PR team but whilst ignorance isn’t bliss i made it clear they were having a laugh (with a few choice words included ).The Scunny an District baliff knows we have a book (well season ticket as is now) but when i collared him and asked about eels without mentioning previous conversation and he said “yeah loads been caught ,they make good weight builders” !!

If you cant put eels in keepnets what they going to do on matches such as the river Wharfe at Tadcaster, thats all you catch !
