Any comment on the line up – and the B team selection?

TF_Waveney OneI don’t know the water involved which could make a difference but wouldn’t be surprised if looking at the names, the ‘B’ team beat the full England squad when they fish against each other!

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantIs there anybody who people think should be in that’s not there, B team in particular?

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantLook at Gary Millers profile I would have thought feeder fishing in Belgium would be right up his street.

we all should get to go on the trials wether it be a match or just for the mangement to see whos who ANOTHER closed shop some of the best tip anglers i know are on the open circuit
i would also like to know the criteria for getting in and is it just down to money and whos got the best sponorship deal to pay for itDon’t think it was a closed shop, applications were invited from the Angling Trust. You had to construct an angling CV and submit to the trust. Not sure what happened after that point but to state its a closed shop I think is incorrect.

TF_Allan_MarsdenParticipantI was somewhat shocked to see Kieron Rich in a feeder fishing team. Awesome angler on commercials with little or no feeder fishing and capable river angler by all accounts. Feeder / Tip credentials? Tommy heading the joint and Keiron in a team 😉 I cannot help thinking we have better feeder anglers across the country than some listed.
Is the cost / time prohibitive? and selection of quality far less important?

TF_MarkTThere maybe better tip anglers out there but if they don’t go to the trials they can’t be considered.
People are always complaining the England teams are a closed shop and when they do open a team to the general public it’s still a closed shop!!!

AnonymousI,ve fished against Kieron Rich quite a lot over the years and he is a class act. Was drawn next to him only a few weeks ago at Blundells. He uses rod and reel on commercial venues more than most anglers i can think of to win open matches on a very regular basis. Cudmore and Blundells are just two venues that spring to mind where he is a regular match winner with running line/feeder methods. He is also a regular secton winner in festivals at White Acres against some of the best anglers in the country on feeder/bomb dominated waters such Porth Res, Twin Oaks and the match lake. So, its not like he cannot chuck a feeder with confidence and catches more than his fair share of fish. Tommy knows Kieron,s angling abilities very well and they understand where each other are coming from. He knows he will follow team orders and can offer something to the team in practice. So, im not shocked that Kieron is in the squad and will not let anybody down.

TF_carpmagicParticipantNo, you just had to send a CV in and you got a trial. 20 people turned up for the trial. Surely if you wanted to fish for England you would make the effort to turn up? Some did, some didnt, thats up to them. But everyone had the opportunity.

TF_bobby-joParticipantchris you don,t need to be sponsered to be good enough to get in the team, but normally the better anglers tend to get sponsership because they are just that GOOD ANGLERS, we all have our own good local anglers but take them off their local venue,s and they are not so good, as for a cv being true its only a case of checking results to see how good they are (not how good they think they are), remember good anglers fish all over not just local to them and win all over

AnonymousOff the subject a little but i opened a thread just over a week ago asking how you would put an angling CV together. There was over 550 views but only 5 replys and only one attempt at answering the question. That suggests to me that very few anglers have any idea how to put an angling CV together. If you cannot put an angling CV together that gives a good impression. What chance would you get of being invited to a trial for the England World Feeder Team?
It has to be said that all the anglers in this years England feeder teams are very well known high profile anglers. I have no issue or problems with this because they have earned there high profile status within our sport. However, there are some less well known quality English anglers who do fish open matches and festivals in Europe and on similar type venues to the World Feeder Champs and do ok. It does make me question if some quality match anglers that would be better suited to fishing this type of competition are being over looked for the team because of the lack of winning a high profile competition in this country that gives them a high profile.
