Since moving house to Derbyshire and several visits to codnor and butterley res I’m well and truely back in love with bream fishing again. Whats the thoughts on rigs these days? I’m sure theres some modern takes on the basic rigs or are the old ones still the best?

Hi Mate. Ive fished the feeder in a lot of different situations for Bream here in Northern Ireland and ive only ever used 2 rigs.

The Loop rig for running feeder on faster water.

The straightforward paternoster rig for stillwater.

Both tried and tested and sucessfull. My view is stick to these 2 and you wont go far wrong. Theres too many ideas that takes in beads and allsorts of swivels ect ect which in my opinion only add more problems weakening the rig and getting tangled underwater.

Whenever I’ve fished the paternoster I get the hook length tangling alot. Do you have the feeder above or below the hooklength?

I fish the feeder below the hook link.

Where ‘fixed’ rigs aren’t allowed I the rig up like this

The method feeder can work well for bream as well if you don’t mind fishing it. Sometimes they will only look at a method.
