Thought i would let you know that i have just found an old school chum through Facebook.
Believe it or believe it not,i was quite well educated.and went to a good school and infact was a boarder(lived there).I always said that if i had a son i would send him to school as a boarder,but unfortunately i only had two wonderful daughters and their mother wouldnt send them away to be educated.
It really was a great part of my early days ,and apart from the education,i learnt so much about life,and became so very keen on all sports which we played every afternoon after lessons.
Of course you meet so many lads at these schools.and i had many friends who i have stayed in touch with throughout the years,and indeed many have become very well off and some quite famous.But one of my closest friends,who i carried on seeing after school,suddenly became distant and lost completely after girls and other distractions took their toll on our teens.
This great pal was in a band with myself and 2 other friends,and although i say it myself we werent to shabby and had the girls screaming for our bodies on many occassions.He was the drummer,and was brilliant as well as being to bleeding goodlooking.His father was an Actor,and was in the old Black and White movies,and also had parts on the T.V thriller,and period dramas.But what i most remember about him was his wonderful house which was situated on the River,and was next to this wonderful Mill and Lock gates.He like me loved fishing and we had some great afternoons trotting a float down the sweeping foaming waters that he lived by.His Father sold the house and the family moved away,and although we wrote to each other eventually we drifted apart and got on with our own destiny.
6 months ago i started searching for him on the websites,and came across a fella in America with the same name,and sent him a message asking if he was indeed my old pal.Today a reply has been recieved on Facebook,confirming it was he,and we are now in touch again after 45 years.I have got to say lads it is marvelous to hear from him again,and it made me think how lucky we all are to still be alive and able to find our old buddies.
It turns out he is now in South Carolina,after spending 40 years in L.Vegas,working in the rock band business,and also in the Movie industry.He has had 3 wives(i have only had 2 to date),2 sons,and is currently living on a 100 acre Horsefarm with Rivers running through rambling hills,which he fishes on at every possible moment.Of course he has invited me over with my lady,so i cant wait to find out how he ended up where he has,and to fish again with him and lay on the banks drinking cold lagers from the net in the River…..Its a marvelous World aint it lads.
