Hi i fished the the Tuesday opens on there in january and febuary, winning weights were between 30lb and 60lb of carp.

I fished pellet across feeding a pinch of micros and fishing a 4mm expander on the hook for the carp which go from 8oz stockies upto 10lb lumps but average 2 lb to 5 lb.I would probably go with 6mm pellets now its warmed up a bit since i went on :~)

Maggots or caster/worm for the silver fish, loads of ide average 8oz / 12oz, loads of big skimmers to be had down the track 1 lb to 2 lb.

If its a match carp will win it but a good days fishing can be had with weights of upto 40 lb of silvers not uncommon.

Best pegs are either end of the match canal.

          Pete

Fished it a few times as my parents own a caravan over the road from the fishery on Newton Hall.

On top of what Respect has put i would also point out that on most pegs you need 15- 15.5 meters to reach the island – its not quite 16 meters but you might need that section on!

You can catch under your feet, or top kit plus 1, fish 4 or 6 mil expander over micro’s or g/bait. The 4’s are small ish but ravenous, if you cannot catch them one a bung i would target the skimmers (big big skimmers!) or the ide uitw.

The cafe is top notch too, there is a tackle shop on site but caters for the speci lads but the two young lads that own it will put you right. if it stays liek this and you are fishing it soon i would defo fish worm and caster over and pellet close in.

            when are you on there?

I’m on there on Saturday so weather should be great! lines should be tight across, uitw, margins and top 4 + 5. what winning weight am I looking at?

I like your optimism – ”what winning wight AM I LOOKING at” good man!!

I would say 40lb would be your winning weight given this nice weather. i am up at the caravan saturday so might pop over.

                  See you then
