TF_JabjabI’m running a fund raising match on Tuesday 2nd August to raise funds for the Ladies’ England Team to go to this year’s World Championships.
Roy has very kindly donated the peg fees and I intend to run a raffle on the day itself.
I haven’t yet finalised times or anything, but I anticipate an entry fee of £25. I have pools 1 and 4 which will give me 40 pegs. More names than this and I’ll ask Roy for another pool.
If you want to fish please let me have real (and user) names below.
I’ll post further details as soon as they are sorted.
DETAILS NOW POSTED BELOW
Mods, can we make this a sticky please???
Thanks

TF_PikeyIt’s not really a Charity match then is it !
More a fundraising match for the England Ladies team.Good Luck – Hope it goes well.
I have to say that it is a great shame that we need to do this to pay for anglers to represent their country.

TF_PikeyDon’t get me wrong, it is a cause worth raising money for and Roy obviously thinks so.
So, if you want a days fishing on what I think is one of, if not the best fishery in the country then get your names down.
Unfortunately I have to work that day.

deano1ParticipantI would have gladly fished the glebe for a more worthy charity or a project but to help fund a trip for a fishing team is not my idea of parting with hard earned cash.
Rainbows trust
Barnados
Cancer research
Help for heroes and many more..These are charities not the England womens fishing team
This is my opinion of course..

TF_joffmiester~clap ~clap go for it ladies i think the vets will need some help as well
its a crying shame that you have to do this for the chance to represent your country
i’m sure if you could shout out about the lack of funding either to the press or even to sport personality’s[show a bit of leg here and there] its hard work i know but at least your trying and not sitting on your arses ~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap ~clapif i can help in anyway perhaps run a match around here river soar or canal for some funding whether its for the vets or the ladies
perhaps change it to a fund raiser rather than a charity

TF_JabjabThanks for your comments and I have changed the thread to fund raising, appreciate the honesty in your views.
As Pikey and Joff say, it’s a shame we have to do this. I can see a time ahead when we do not enter a team as people will not be able to afford it. It will cost us nearly £2,000 each this year, on top of the money all the team paid out for last year’s event. The ladies, disabled and vets just cannot afford to pay out this sort of money every year.
If you can’t make the match, come to Newark showground on 25th June where Roger Surgay has kindly let me have a stand at his tackle show; I’ll be selling raffle tickets and running a tombola to raise funds.
Thanks.

TF_iansi01354Jabjab – provisional yes from me as the Glebe is worth the day out – Ian Simpson.
Some more details on how the £25 is being split would be good though!!

TF_JabjabHave now managed to finalise some things.
Roy has kindly donated his £10 peg fee to the ladies’ cause; thank you very much Roy.~clap ~clap
Remaining £15 into the pools.
Payout sections every 10 pegs by default.
40 anglers pay top 4
30 anglers pay top 3, etc.Hope you can make it. Draw 9.30am, fish 11am – 4pm

TF_daverobertsI will have a look at the diary and see if I can make this julie. If not is there a way we can make a donation?
It is a sad state of affairs that you have to self fund. It’s even sadder that people feel the need to jump all over this thread. If you don’t agree just don’t fish.

Before you get on your high horse the original title was Charity match not fundraiser thats why a few including myself objected….~shh

Peter1984Deano,
Before you get on yours!!
The title has been changed and originally perhaps the wrong choice of words were used to advertise the match. It was noted and changed, why do you feel that you need to have another pop at someone?
This is as worthy a cause as anything else, this is supporting your country not a charity.

TF_JabjabThis match is now a 51 peg sell out. Thank you to all who are fishing. I will set up a reserve list as there will no doubt be people that ultimately will be unable to make it. Let me know if you want to be on the list. We are now using pools 1, 4 and 6. Thanks again.
