TF_kid_aI am looking at getting either a GMAX 1000 or Airity, I have had them side by side in a shop but I cant decide!
The GMAX 1000 was a lot stiffer than the Airity but felt quite a bit heavier I thought. However the GMAX was a lot longer, seemed about 1m longer and in fact the garbo at 14.5m wasnt that much shorter than the Airity at 16m. Is it the longer length that makes the garbo feel heavier?
Any views would be appreciated as I cant decide!! ~think ~think

TF_paynoYou may have hade a power kit on the daiwa and a match kit on the garbo, the power kit was prob shorter.

TF_kid_aThe guy in the shop said they were both match kits but I suppose the daiwa might not have had the number 1 in ~think

TF_dirkdigglerdaiwa tournament is no where near 16m new even with a match kit with the number one in it.
mine is 15.2 metres with the number one removed and 15.7m with the half ext too.
in fact if you use the short number 4 and a 17.5 metre ext it’s still only 16.2 metres long.
i don’t know how they get away with it?
i should imagine it’s because most people aren’t as tragic as me measuring it on my driveway. -

TF_D.W.the garbolino poles on the super-g mandrel are almost 0.75m longer than almost all the other poles on the market as standard (before cutting back). The main difference is that the super-g match kits don’t need cutting back to house up to #6 solid elastic, so they are sold at a usable length straight out the bag. The additional length plus the rigidity of the pole makes it feel heavier than others at stated lengths because they are actually longer holding that extra length straight out rather than on the sag (fulcrum effect and inertia physics dictate this). If fished at identical true lengths i.e. with half a section behind you on the garbolino to be same length, both poles will feel almost identical but the garbolino is straighter.
Hence why it is always best to have a look before you buy at all the poles you can within the budget and make your own mind up.
Andy Pell (tractorboy) and myself had the 4 of the flagship poles up next to each other at the shop a couple of years ago and the Garbolino (G10) was noticeably straighter at full length and longer than the other 3 (GiS12, Sensas 774 & Airity) but felt heavier because of it. Drop a section off or put the extra behind you and it felt the same if not lighter than the others. The G-Max 1000 runs the same principle. -

TF_kid_aWhat are Garbolino like for making spares available? Will it still be possible to get spare sections even when the pole is discontinued, as you can with Daiwa?

TF_paulDIve compared my Z9 with other poles on the bank and with tip out and elasticated, at 16 the Z9 is about 2 inches shorter than a G10 an about 2 foot longer than an Arity or Pro. When I got my Z9 I could suddenly reach an island on a local lake that I couldnt with my T Pro!
I personnaly think the G10s are too stiff and heavy, I like a bit of give in a pole as if it can’t bend then its going to break. Ive had red hydro through my Z9 without breaking and can just about hold it at 16m in one hand under the arm without support. The 9 is stiffer and lighter than an Arity and stronger and lighter than a G10max,, and is cheaper than both of them ~clap

TF_Fred DavisI agree paul Z9 is a cracking bit of kit, however is it worth going for the 17.5 mtre package or sticking with the 16 mtre package?

TF_Spuds1The G10 also has longer length sections , I had one up along side a mates 774 and tourney pro on my driveway , all had match top 2 with white hydro in them . The g10 although heavier was some 80 cm longer at stated lenghths .
Someone should have weights and measures out to Daiwa and some others , it’s a joke .

Some one should have trading standards out to Garbolino the numbers 5 & 6 are made of carrot not carbon? ~naughty

TF_paulDFred, i got the full 17.5 Z9 package with 10 kits, 2 4ths ,a short 4th, 2 mini-exts and a full set of luggage. I paid 2100. its easily fishble at 17.5 but tbh ive only done it a few times. Use it 16m + the mini-ext a lot and it’s brilliant at this.
A mates just been quoted “about 1750′ for the 16m package with 8 kits and 2 mini-exts. And about 50 for extra kits and power 4ths. Said that he can have the pole with puller topkits for the same price. He’s changing from an Arity and wants to get in before the vat goes up.The local dealer saw the new z7.5 at a trade show and said that up to 14.5 it was as good as the Z9 and it abaout 500 quid less. Might be worth a look if you want to spend less.
ive broken 3 sections in the last year, all my fault and the spares all came in 1 week.~clap

TF_Fred Davisthe pole compare website doesn’t give a very good comparison imo it lists the browning z9 as 16mtres for a price of £2199, in actual fact you can get the 17.5 metre pole for that price, the 16mtre is £1750 from almost anywhere, the 17.5 mtre browing z9 package is beefed up as it has has 10 top kits a short 4th and I think two fourth sections plus of course the browning luggage, I also note that it only gives the G10 it’s weight at 13mtres, no sign of any droop test but still a website thats worth a visit for the basics on the quick.

TF_paulDFred, if your worried about droop I can recommend quite a few websites better than polecompare. (-;
