TF_PikeyI always love hearing about how others got on at the Glebe so please report here.
Day 1 – I drew Peg 2 on Lake 1 and decided to fish paste at 8 metres and maggits in the edge. Caught a few on paste but it wasn’t easy with the wind and tow. Didn’t catch much in the edge and finished 4th in my section with 96lb – even beaten by Plippy O’Driscoll on Peg 1.
Day 2 – Drew the Litle girls peg – Peg 86 on Lake 6 thought I was going to empty it after 12 carp in the first 70 minutes but the wind changed and I only caught another 9 carp in the rest of the match to finish with 95lb.
How did you do ?

TF_Kevin WHad my chance and blew it with an inept performance on day two.
Day 1: Won Pool 4 with 84lb from peg 71 on feeder. Fished four dead krilled maggots or worm on hook, 2mm pellets and casters in feeder.
Day 2: Peg 15, Pool 1. Couldn’t catch on feeder, couldn’t catch on pole. Battered both sides. Weighed in 60lb, must have been nearly last in section. The wind beat me. Gutted. Hey ho here’s to next year.
And someone nicked one of my keepnets which I’d laid out to dry next to my car. Thanks for that…

TF_mickydA frustrating couple of days.
Day1 peg107 35lb 70 lb won the lake.
Day2 peg 30 loads of foul hookers ended up with79lb all caught at 11 m down the edge, the wind was an ansolute night mare.
Welldone to my mate Darren Wright on perfect score to take the title. -

TF_iansi01354Day One
Drew 46 on Uglies, end of the island and virtually ran to my peg. Wind was awkward though and bomb and feeder were dire. Managed just 5 carp and a few bits for 40lb to come about 7th in my section.Day Two
89 on Lake 6 and again struggled on the feeder early on (maybe its me!!!!). Managed to get a few better carp at 5m on corn and a few buddies on pellet at 13m but had a great last hour on maggot and goundbait in the margin. Putting 50lb+ of my 108lb in the net in the last hour for 2nd in section.Craic was good, wind was dire but the Glebe remains a bit special!!

TF_kevrusselliGareth drew me peg 8 on friday with two empty pegs to my right. fished 4m pole with sanagi spiced corn and then later in the match in the right hand margin feeding 2 KG of 131 dead krilled maggot and JPZ on the hook. had 140lb odd, beaten by the festival winner to my left on peg 7. Well done Darren.
day two had a bit of a mare, fished feeder for an hour for 3 fish and lost loads then the margin with 131 maggot and JPZ , had more than enough lumps on the hook to win but had a bad hooking day and lost most of them. finished with 76 lb and 5th to be fair everyone had lost fish, so no excuses. again next to the section winner, Rich Wells with 112lb. i must try harder. sorry for the bit of a cock up witht he second day pegging. only real bad point of a terrific charity event was the dissapearance of Kevin’s net. not good. -

TF_Happy DanglerDay 1 – Peg 85 Pool 5, 34lb 8oz mostly feeder over using hemp/caster with maggot on hook. Only had 2 fish on 5m line and nothing but a perch from the margins. Wrong end of the lake on the day – low weights up from me of 16lb, 20lb then 38lb.
Day 2 – Pool 1 Peg 2. 93lb 8oz. Had 3 small fish on feeder in first hour also losing a couple of bigger ones. Change to 6-7m line on corn and caught steady, also a few larger paste fish over the corn line. Had a couple of good fish in last 15 mins down inside maggot over hemp/caster g/b but suffered same problem as Kev loads of fish hooked (foul?) and lost.

TF_carloshenrickParticipantDay 1 – drew peg 67 (pool 4) caught steady on the feeder but too many small fish. Weighed in 60lb for 4th on the lake!
Day 2 – drew peg 8 (pool 1). Only had 5 fish in the first 2 hours then caught 1 a chuck for the next 3 1/2 hours at 4.5m ( on corn )& rhs margin on groundbait and dead maggot. Weighed in 203lb ( went over on 1 net so got rolled back to 100lb) for the overall win of day 2

The net you could just about see being packed away by mistake….at a push if it was next to your car as well but pro-logic connectors as well………
Sad times!

TF_geepsterParticipantYes things going missing is very poor indeed someone should be very ashamed, but they are probably not. In what’s got to be eight years of running this charity event, this is the first time this has happened and I hope the last.
Otherwise another very good charity event thanks to all who helped out in their various ways and in particular kev for picking up the reins and of course to Roy.
Result: Darren Wright, 2pts, 297lb; Jim Chessman, 2pts, 246lb, Mark Hathaway, 3pts, 259lb; Jamie Adcock, 3pts, 212lb; Kev Holmes, 4pts, 261lb; Gary Miller, 4pts, 251lb; Rich Bedder, 4pts, 244lb; Lee Westwood, 4pts, 239lb.

TF_fishermansteveNot good tackle being stolen as i have recently been a victim of this , any way back to the glebe, fished 101 pool 7 which was the worst lake on day 1 strugled for bites managed 38lb for 3rd on my lake and won a pint of my mate, fished worm and caster,
Day 2 drew peg 23 pool1 very windy couldnt live with the lads that could drop the feeder on a sixpence every chuck !! so fished pole at 6m using chop worm and caster and ended up with 92lb was pleased with this. The craic was good cant wait for next year . Ps never got to wear the fez (walk of shame with the lads from Oldham) thanks to all the organisers and to Roy !!! -

TF_Patrick MacInnesMy two days was a tale of mixed fortunes…. overall I loved returning to match fishing (my first since mid-2010) and at a venue I love to fish, if not a venue that particularly loves me all the time. The two days were definitely marred by major elastic problems thanks to an eleventh-hour change that cost me, but overall the event was excellent…
Day 1
I drew sock-on with peg 97 at the windy end of Lake 6 – brilliant draw to kick off the festival with and a bit of a helping hand seeing, as I was feeling a bit rusty. Didn’t even chuck the feeder, as the margins looked too good from the off. Had to fish 14.5m along to the end bank but corn, pellet and groundbait sorted it in the choppy stuff tight to the bank. My elbow bore testament to how hard it was to control the pole in the wind but I ended up winning the lake/section with 123lb. Lost loads of foul-hooked fish but that’s the perils of fishing 12″ of water and I learned some valuable lessons that made it very, very rewarding and enjoyable.Day 2
It happened; I drew peg 44, the boards on Uglies, a pressure peg if anything, especially when people are telling you you’re fishing for the festival…. Anyway, I fished a fairly tidy match but did loose too many fish thanks to a poor elastic choice and I had to have a few words with myself through the day to get things back on track. The previous day this peg had produced 15 fish for 145lb so I was aiming for that again; ended up with 16 fish but as fate would have it, they weren’t doubles and I ended up with 110lb, meaning I was five fish off getting the section. I was gutted, I’ll admit that, because I was so close to framing high up overall, but these things happen and I can at least look back on two valuable days of learning that will definitely help me out on future sessions.230lb of fish over two days leaves me well happy, although the dodgy scum who pinched the net should be very ashamed of themself, if anything, for lowering the tone of such a great event and making sure that nowhere is safe from greedy scum, even somewhere as pleasant as the Glebe.
Massive thanks go to the organising team, to Rich Bedder and Kev Wilmot for being good shoulders to cry on at the end of day two, and the guys I talked to who all said hello and were true gents 🙂

TF_geepsterParticipantPretty hard going for me this year and by far my lowest weights – just could not get any run of bites going although I think I did not draw well.
Day One
Peg 14 on Lake One. Found myself right into the teeth of a strong headwind all day so my gallon of casters for fishing shallow was out of the window. Tried to fish the feeder and had an early fish, but really could not handle the wind despite adding lead (it’s a long chuck there, especially into a wind) and came off the line. Picked off some skimmers at 5m and a couple of carp, but also lost a few foul hooked i think. Middle of the match was dire where I was, and then in the last 25 minutes big fish appeared in the edge; hooked five only got two out the others were foul-hooked. Weighed in 34lb for sixth in section of ten, beat the two to my left and the Guy on my right beat me as he doubled his weight in the last 25mins..Day Two
Drew Pool 5 77 one off the end which I fancied as the wind was blowing down that end. Got off to a good start with a skimmer and two carp in the first 25 mins on the feeder but then it died. Lost a huge fish on about the hour mark on the feeder which I had on for ages. Must have been foul hooked I think – hook just came out in the end. After that it just died completely everywhere around me – even for the guy on the end corner peg. No fish came on the inside and only rescued any sort of weight with four fish at 5m on corn in the last half an hour for just 25lb. Guy on my right didn’t bother weighing in, and the corner peg only produced 31lb, with the lake winning weight 71lb. Strange couple of day’s fishing really – just never happened and never got any sort of run of bites either day apart from last 20 mins on day one. -

TF_RossnDay 1
Peg 20 on Pool 1. Had a few casts on the feeder….none of them went where they were supposed to!!. Tried fishing at 8m rather than my normal 5 or 6m….another mistake, the wind made it really difficult. Had a few carp by the little tree to my left for a weight of 98lb, beaten by several people who could cast.Day 2
Peg 72 on Lake 4. Had a few casts on the feeder….none of them went where they were supposed to!! (notice a recurring theme here?). Started on corn at 5m and caught a few but bites were hard to see in the wind. Switched to 3 or 4 krilled maggots on a 14 feeding EFG131 and started catching a few. That 131 is RUBBISH it attracts all the wrong fish. Ended with 120lb including 57lb of SILVERS. Beaten by both end pegs but a lovely day’s fishing with a bite a cast for the last 4 hours.Pikey’s worms decamped into the car on Friday night, he assures me that he’s found them all.
In the raffle I won an empty box so perhaps the keepnet thief stole my prize as well.
All in all a great weekend, looking forward to the next time.

TF_KEV HOLMESDay 1 peg 24 on pool1.Started on feeder with dead red maggot very slow for first 2 hours changed to hair rigged worm and had 25+fish to weigh 124 pound.Second in section.
Day 2 peg 66 on pool 4.With waves as big as in the north sea this was going to be a tough match.Started on feeder again but used white boile on hook for 3 early fish .Then fished 5m line with corn and 13m margin with worm.Weighed 137 pounds for another second in section.

TF_pr@nglerUp and down . . .
I’d been working away from home all week, was tired and really not looking forward to it. Not the best mood to go into a match really.
Drew 42 on Uglies and decided on feeder to the boards, a 5m line with corn and pellets under the bush to my right.
Had a couple of fish in the first hour on the feeder but used this time to feed the corn and pellet line. Came inside, nothing! Went back on the feeder and picked a few up but nothing special. Came back to 5m for last hour or so and started to feed a bit more. I realised that the more I fed the more bites I got. Struggled to land the fish though, which were a bit big (landed 8 fish for 76lbs). Despite all this I started to enjoy myself.
Five minutes to go I hooked another carp, which I landed 5 minutes after the whistle. As I lifted it out my landing net tore. The fish got away, but only after landing on my top two. As I packed up I dropped the spool off a brand new TDX3012 into the lake, so in the space of 5 minutes I lost a 10lb carp and wrote off about £80 of tackle.
Not deterred, I set off to my digs only to find they were boarded up! I drove around, tried a couple of other places but began to get a bit fed up.
By 7pm I was close to the motorway and thought I’d have a nicer time going home, having a bottle of wine with my wife and spending Saturday relaxing, which I did.
Wish I lived closer to the Glebe though. I’d probably fish nowhere else if I did.

STARTED ON PELLET FEEDER AND WHITE BOILIE, SLOW START, 3 FISH IN HOUR AND HALF, BUT 2 FISH PROBALBY WENT 20LBS . THEN i HAD ALOOK AT MY MARGIN LINE AT 14 MTRS AND A BITE FIRST PUT IN WAS THE WAY IT WENT TAKEN FISH ALMOST EVERY PUT IN FOR THE REST OF THE MATCH, ALL MARGIN FISH WERE CAUGHT ON CORN OVER CORN AND PELLET. TF_redarmyday 1 peg 1 pool 1 spent to long trying different lines feeder across 1 small stockie 11mt 1 fish 5lb 1st put in lost a similar sized when 2nd put in never had another bite.fed margins left and right and a long margin at 14.5mt.eventually stuck to the long margin for 107lb 3rd in section, lost about 15 fish and really should of had a far bigger weight and hopefully learned a few things.all my fish were caught on a full dendra over hemp and caster
day 2 bad draw peg 70 pool 4 it had only threw up 15lb the 1st day but kev w had 84lb off the next peg on the feeder.i fished too long on this line and it never really got going, eventually i settled on my 5mt line fishing a full worm again over hemp and caster,i caught a lot of small carp with a few better ones up to about 8lb and ended up with 75lb for 4th insection beaten by both end pegs kev and daz and ross 2 pegs to my right.again hopefully learned a few lessons for my next visit.i also fed the margins and only had1 bite from a 12oz hybrid.

TF_PikeyPeg 8 seemed like a good place to be for the weekend – Kev had a good weight off it on the Friday as well fishing at 5 metres and in the edge – you have a bit of room there as well.

TF_kev34Day 1 peg 74 which is one of the end on lake 4,deano1 was on 75 end peg.Chucked the groundbait feeder and double krilled maggot for 4 carp in 2 hours, fed my 5m line with corn from the off and had 2 carp on that, margins were useless had 1 roach 1st put in after feeding it constantly for last 2 hours on dead krilled maggots.Went back on the feeder for 3 more on corn..Weighed 48lb for 5th on lake still beating both sides of me and the flyer to my right~think
Day 2 with a really bad hangover i drew peg 20 pool 1 which has the best margin peg on the whole lake but only if 21 aint in,well jamie was on 21 so that koofed that, went straight out on the groundbait feeder(20gram) with double dead maggot and had 3 fish before jamie had anything.Should have kept my mouth shut taking the piss outta him because after 30 minutes he was absolutely bagging on the feeder, his casting was a little better than mine but not enough for me to not get a bite for an hour..I had been feeding my 5m corn line which i had 60lb from in last 2 hours to weigh 68lb…Iam now convinced that marukyu had its part to play as jamie was using 130(smooth groundbait) and krilled maggots(bloody lots of them)….
Still enjoyed myself after the battering though role on next year~sick
