TF_jonahI know you can fish the popped up bread on these matches, but can you also use a popped up expander or boilie as the rules say no floating baits…?

TF_GLEBE1Im pretty sure your ok with those baits as long as they are not fished on the surface.

TF_kevrusselliJonah, bread is allowed from november 1st, so the first two weeks of the league it is not allowed, popping up of pellet, boilie has been allowed, but if things get silly with bait fished near the surface or heavy weights pinning down hookbaits, effecting a shorter hooklength, then we will adjust the rules. ps i will be bringing along some bits of coloured string 20″ long at the weekend for everyone so anyone can check the boyos who still try to bend the rules in the hooklength department, if they dont know how to follow rules at their age, it seems i must treat them like children. sorry for the rant. hopefully it will be a great fun league and the weather is kind and we catch lots of fish. ps there will be a lots of practice this week im sure but info will be tight lipped on Sunday LOL

TF_C.S.HParticipantDon’t mean to be controversial or anything. Don’t fish this league and have no plans to do so.
But, can somebody explain the 20 inch hooklength rule. Why 20 and not 18 or 22? Seems as though a number has been plucked out of the air. Surely if such crazy rules were dispensed with the madness of a 20 inch bit of coloured string could be removed as well.

TF_kevrusselliCSH when Roy first developed the glebe back in the late 90’s he didnt want it to become a method only water like so many other fisheries around our area were at that time, so as chris says it was no shorter than 20″. also If you remember the method was mostly depeloped at Mallory back in the days of Emstat feeders and it was Roys decision as he felt that it had not been good for his stock in the long term, i realise now that the method has been greatly depeloped with better feeders etc and this is perhaps not so much of a problem, i do not fish the method anywhere so dont see fish exposed to it. but when there is a rule some guys will always try to rip people off by not playing the game, not sure if this would be the case if we were not fishing for money. might just be as it is these days.
