Groundbait through the seasons

I have read before that certain colours or shades of groundbait are best through the various seasons, ie dark in winter, light in sumemr?

Can someone clarify whats best and when and even why please?

some say that light coloured ground bait in gin clear winter water makes the fish back off because they feel vunerable to predators seeing them on a light coloured background.

so what do we do? feed balls of snowy white liquy and bag up on breadpunch…..
