TF_mart4666anybodies thoughts on trilogy v 774 v z9 or do i keep my tourny pro which is after all vgc. only problem i’ve got with pro is sticky painted sections. went to look at a few poles today. the trilogy i wanted to test but wasn’t available , same with z9 but was impressed with 774. also looked at new airity , shimano aspire, fireblood, maver66 88 and new 76 and 86 xl sensas but told no good for commercials. the mavers where light but not much spares for money and i;d snapp it , thats why i was wanting to test trilogy really

TF_baitchefParticipantYou cant go wrong with Daiwa if you take everything into account.

TF_wildingukI’ve got a 774, and apart from the overly weak number 4 in the pole (you do get two other number 4’s in the spares package that are more than capable of everything), I can’t fault it.
Do note, with the 774 and the new mavers, they are only 13m with the mini extention added. Same goes with 14.5 and 16m too. Once you have taken the tip out, obviously they are more like 12m without the mini extention. Long as you know this, and take it into account, the choice is yours.
But if you love the tourny, why change. If you want to just get a better condition one, get another daiwa. Or see if anyone has any of the 13m packages they did a year or two back going cheaper. All your spares will fit, and the main bit of your pole will be new!!

TF_wildingukAnd you get some number 5s with the 13m packages, if you don;t use them can make some extra coin selling them on.
A quick look on goggle, 2100 buys you a tourny pro x 13m with 3 spare match top 5s.

TF_Fred Davisthe browning Z9 still gets my vote, top pole less tip bounce than the daiwa poles less weighty or brittle than a g10,tried tricast once the pole I had came up alarmingly short, tricast venom, maybe I was unlucky but a no 4 snapped when cupping out, also the top kits cost an arm and a leg, had it less than a year and got shot of,The browning pole is awesome and unlike most other poles I havern’t heard any of the lads who bought the pole suffer any kind of breakage.

TF_redarmyfred the venom was launched in the late 1980,s no wonder it was heavy.the new tricasts are light very strong brilliant finish and come with 9 top kits

TF_RhinoColmic x5000 gets my vote. Not cheap but excellent in all aspects of performance.

TF_Fred DavisRed Army I must admit I havern’t seen any tricast poles of late it’s not one that you see much of in the tackle shops south of watford or on the bank. But I take your word that they have improved as a lot of lads do rate them.

TF_fourcanalsI have a z9 and after a few outings managed to snap 3 match tops in half a dozen outings. I was severly mocked by my pal who has a pro x and i was dissapointed and the butt of he has bust another jibe in the pub when we went to slacken the prarie dust However after posting my dissatisfaction I was contacted by the browning rep. I think the top kits I bust may have been the continental ones and are lighter but not up to the British type we need for our commercial style of fisheries. Browning were fantastic replacing the broken ones and chucking a couple of carp top kits. I have put some 20 through one but not yet has the need to use it. I have added a couple of z7 number 4s as the basic pack is a bit short of the spares Overall a cracking pole best bit of kit the wife,s never seen

TF_gloves007ukThe Browning after sales service is second to none and one which they are proud of considering every thing comes from germany they do their best to get it to you as fast as they can
another vote for the z9 just got rid of my maver elite for one of these top notch -

or like me you could use a pair of contour avenger gloves and keep your pro.
cost £12 for a box of 10 pairs from costco~think -

TF_stevie bI got a Trilogy. Tested a load of the others and they all felt nice but the Trilogy was as well balanced as all of them but way stronger.
Since I nearly only fish commercials I thought it was the best choice for me.
Finish very nice (not used in wet yet though). Unable to oval any of the sections at all.
Came with a very good spares package and the kits are similar price to my old Maver K47’s -

TF_fourcanalsMy next choice if i had not bought a z9 would have been a 774

TF_Staff BullHi mate, I had a Pro and sold it and bought a 774, nice pole but didn’t like it as much as the Pro, I then bought a Trilogy and absolutely hated it, so needless to say that was sold and now I’ve gone back to a Pro and don’t see myself changing for sometime. In my opinion the Pro is still the best pole out there and will be for a long time. Daiwa seem to have a knack of producing poles years ahead of their time, take the Spectron for example its probably 10+ years old and can still hold its own against any new pole out. I’d stick with your Pro mate.

TF_JohnHSurprised no one has mentioned the PRO X. The TP has been the best out there for a long time despite the sticky painted sections. The new X has sorted that problem big style. All your top kits will obviously fit if you do sell your TP, BUT, if you keep it, all the sections interchange. Sorry but its a no brainer for me.

TF_GillboMart is an absolute giant and has hands like shovels! I would also take a look at the G-Max 1000 Mart as when I have tried one it has felt a strong pole. The Tri-cast Trilogy has good wall strength but when I tried it I wasnt that impressed and it came quite a bit short of the others. At the end of the day if you are after a strong pole I think those two are definately the ones to look at.

TF_fourcanalsIt is interesting peoples opinion, my pal is so in love with his tourny x he has not to this day sat on my box to try my z9 apart from mocking my problems with the top kits will not mutter the word Browning so i just leave him to his obvious blinkered opinion.

how true this is martyn. like i say i like the pro but the silver sections stickin yr hand. and everybody likes to be able to buy something new …. dont they … be honest. the z9 heard about them but also heard about poor supply from browning in the past …. this definately worries me …the sensas774 hmmm god deal, good pole but???? the tricast… well used to be rock solid , bit heavy and bendy in past but now theyre better apparantly…… i’ll find out in the next 3 wks , but if the trilogy is good then its lookin favourite as i value strength

TF_paulDI’ve ordrered a few sections and kits for my Z9 and the longest ive waited is 10 days – have not been too dear either. Browning is part of zebco which is a huge company. I always found Diawa about the same but had some long waits for Sensas bits in the past.

TF_craigmBrowning used to be a nightmare to get stuff off as they had little depots everywhere and all run by different people. 2 years ago they centralised everything in one big warehouse and run by one bloke and everything has been loads better since.
