TF_Chris GrantParticipantSince getting back into match fishing I have been doing very badly and its getting worse.
I am fishing venues that have a mix of FI’and carp matches won with 40 to 80lb.
I usually feed very lightly through a fruit shooter but want to get into this fishing 10 o clock and 2pm lines.
My question is how you keep the two swims fed. Do you feed for instance 4 or 5 pellets on the 10 o clock line come back in and feed the same at 2pm and then fish either of these lines.
It may sound a daft question but how do keep the two lines primed so that you can take one or two from the line switch to the other do the same and swithch back and fore. I am confusing myself now lol
Hopefully some can give advice on how they do it

TF_NathanWatsonCatapult!~clap
Or you can use a cup with a lid and holes in an feed 2 or more swims by sprinkling a few out on each.

TF_drawbag1967Why not keep it simple to start with, feed a line in front at 13m or whatever the norm is and then two low maintenance lines, one on the near shelf 5m?, one in the margin. The chances are if you feed by catapult without practicing first you’ll end up doing more harm than good and create a feeding area in front of you the size of a 5 a side pitch.

TF_nick_the_2ndThe more you practice feeding with a catty the more acurate you will become.
Soon you will be feeding 2 or more lines with ease.

TF_dave smiffit might be that you are not feeding enough. from what you say it looks like you only feed twice during 4 hours, at 10 o clock and and 2 o clock.
Try 10.30, 11, 11.30, 12.00, 12.30, 13.00, 13.30.
hope this helps.

AnonymousIts a very simple method of feeding, Chris. Feed your 2 swims with a small amount of feed at the start of the match. Both swims must be the same depth! Fish one of those swims for 5 minutes or until you hook a fish. You then feed that swim with a little more feed then move to fishing your other swim. Fish that swim for another 5 minutes or until you hook a fish. Then, reward that swim and move back to the other swim again after feeding. In effect, your alternating fishing each swim after feeding the other every 5 minutes. This gives the fish in both swims time to settle down and hopefully drawn in a few more feeding fish in to each swim while picking them off one by one. If you not catching from either swim after a while. You can reduce the amount of feed and only switch swims after maybe every 10/15 minutes or if you think its going to be a very hard day. If your on a shed full of feeding fish. You will find that you will feed more often that every 5 minutes as you build up your catch rate. Often as the match goes on you will find that one swim is better than the other. You can attempt to catch 2 fish from the better swim to allow the weaker swim to build up and give those fish more confidence. In the last hour of the match. You just catch what you can from the better swim to push your weight up. However, the weaker swim often comes to life in the last hour if you carry on feeding it from the start of the match.

TF_baitchefParticipantPersonally Chris, now the weather is warming and the water is beginning to colour and obviously depending on venue and peg, I would feed one line straight out for the f1’s, and a margin line for the commons. All decent carp love the margins at some point and they will snap up a dendrobaena or 2 fished over casters or pellets. Obviously depending on the venue, they might not show straight away, but they will later on. For the F1’s Id fish pellets through a catty with a hair rigged hookbait.
Some times I think the hardest thing is to have the discipline to keep the feeding regime going, and the belief that they will turn on eventually, especially if your not getting a response. Also I think its vital that when a line begins to die, you have somewhere to come back to, and if you can manage it a 6m line or the bottom of the nearside slope can be a banker, as you have to keep something going in the net as often as possible.
5 or 6 hours, concentrating, physically and mentally, i think you have to be match fit, if you know what i mean.

nathan is right in one respect cause that is not how he does it and he is a great angler, but other people do things different i feel that people should listen to all comments then make up there own mind cause things are different on different venues but thats my opinion
