TF_kevrussellihad a few sessions at east stoke last year. you can park behind your peg. east stoke nr Newark. signposted river lake fishing just off the A46 before the garage on the left heading towards Newark

TF_AlibongoParticipanteast stoke isnt day ticket.
i would suggest collingham, peg 1A but you would need to camp there for about a month to get on it. peg 46 – 48 and 55 – 59 are good. they are also catching in the 190’s but its a long horrible walk. peg 57 at besthorpe is also worth a try.

RustlerNice one Al,
Would also include pegs 72-74, and 239 240, at Collingham.
There is some day ticket nr East Stoke, owned by a farmer, used to be Newark Fed, but he has run it now for several years. Turn off A46 where it says “Pond and River Fishing”, head for the bend in the river. Perhaps it is nearer Farndon than East Stoke. -

Mick209Pegs at Collingham stated above are good, Farndon is good, I’ve tried near the Power Station at Farndon and seems like a decent area. Collinghams the safe bet for a few barbel though

TF_jonothe trent day ticket stretch mentioned here is more farndon than east stoke. follow the lane down alongside tall conifers etc , just before the garage coming from gunthorpe end.
approx 30 pegs here , park behind every peg and all pegs made of massive stone so very comfortable fishing.
lots of barbel here too for the pellet anglers. -

RustlerAl, you can book 10 pegs below Cromwell Weir for £50 for Friday, then stay till Saturday for £5 day ticket and a pint for me lol

TF_kevrussellisure it says east stoke on the day ticket, looks a few feet closer to east stoke on the map LOL. still call it farndon if you wish. caught fish in all the pegs i fished last year along the stretch. meat was always better than pellet. had fish to 12 lbs. no night fishing though.

TF_carpmagicParticipantIs peg 1a really as popular as the above suggests? As in people waiting behind anglers to get into the swim?

TF_matchpleasureHey thanks for all the replies lads, loadsa info there. the pegs in the 200’s? how do you access them from the main route through collingam (road names etc) as i’m from ooldham and only over there for next week.

TF_caster robParticipantThe Priest House used to sell day-tickets for their stretch of river:

Don’t know if they still do but might be worth a call – very good water.

TF_AlibongoParticipantyes steve it is that popular.
-
26/08/2010 at 1:34 pm #114635
RustlerAs Al said it is very very popular, tho it does cause loads of problems with litter and tends to attract a lower life form of angler, especially in good weather. With the number of beer cans we collect, the so-called anglers must be permanently pissed !!
It can be a bit of a circus near the weir and lots of the discerning anglers keep away in the summer and fish other areas.
As yet we have not found a solution but the day will come when the club will close these pegs to day tickets and make them members and matches only

TF_carpmagicParticipantIt cant be a nice place to fish if you have people waiting to get in your swim all the time! As has been said above maybe make it members only, although i presume it must generate a few quid in day tickets.

TF_bagging machineParticipantI was only thinking the other day, I would love a change and fancy fishing the Trent for barbel, not really wanting to catch double figure fish, a few in the 3-6lb range would do for starters. Years ago we used to fish at Rolleston & Fiskerton. Can barbel still be caught in theses areas? Do you still have to buy a day ticket from the post office in Fiskerton? What peg numbers would you head for?
Thanks in antisipation. -

AnonymousIf you want to try the Ribble. Try Walton le Dale above London bridge in Preston. Its free fishing! However, you will struggle to catch before dark unless it has lots of extra water in the river. After dark its great fishing for very big chub to 7lb+ and barbel to just under 10lb. Im sure there are bigger fish there that i,ve not seen caught yet. There are also some very big roach to be caught to well over 2lb for something different. Aim for the shingle just above the bridge or the first pegs on the wall just above the shingle. Its solid but a real struggle before dark. There is also The Tickle Trout by i think of the top of my head J32 of M6. Day tickets from the garage. It use to be the best bit of the Ribble for barbel and big chub. However, its not what it use to be but there are sill some big barbel to be caught. Again, most of the quality barbel and a few chub are caught after dark. I dont do the Ribchester part of the river anymore but i keep getting reports of some day ticket sections of the river in that area producing some very big barbel to over 14lb and some much bigger fish but who knows if those reports of very big barbel are really true. Defo some very big barbel at Ribchester though!

danny_gloverParticipanttickle trout stretch has been hammered for the last 15-20 years.

27/08/2010 at 12:38 pm #114706
AnonymousAgreed, danny glover. Those first 3 pegs above the bridge at Tickle Trout where the best 3 barbel pegs in the country 20 odd years ago. I,ve camped out over night and well into the next day to get one of those 3 pegs. There was always other anglers waiting for there turn on those peg and a chance at bagging up with those fish. Those pegs where fished 24/7 but still produced big nets of fish. It seemed like almost every barbel in the river lived on those pegs in those days. Then the river was re-directed and they did some work on the bridge. The water must run though the bridge differently now or the river floor was changed dramatically as the barbel have never come back in the same numbers. There are still a few barbel to be caught there but not like it use to be. Shame!

TF_PaddyRiver Severn, Coalport, Shropshire.
Day ticket from the Brewery pub and head down stream of the pub. Parking opposite the pub. Use 6mm or 8mm Halibuts on the lassoo with Kamasan feeders.
Plenty fish up to 4lb with larger ones coming along when there having it.
Brignorth also good and for up to date info on those sections, just give Rosa a ring at Brignorth tackle – same tactics as the Coalport Stretch. -

RustlerMick – I guess you looking at the Red Bridge stretch of Newark Dyke. Can be fished on a day ticket. Used to be good for chub from the far bank trees. Nice for an evenings Stick Float fishing. Not fished it for ages.
