Irish Angling Road Show at UK venues – win a holiday

        January 11th, 2012

It’s more than a decade since the Irish angling holiday trade staged an angling promotion ….. but we are back for a final bash starting on Monday February 6.

Anglers are welcome to “Enjoy a Taste of Ireland” and an angler’s night out with Ireland’s Angling Tourism Experts.

We can’t guarantee the weather, but good fishing is nothing unusual…

You are invited to be a guest for a hot-pot supper plus a chance to meet and chat with leading representatives of Ireland’s angling travel trade – hoteliers, pub owners, B&Bs and self-catering houses.

And you might win a holiday for two! You will receive a complimentary draw ticket to be drawn during the evening – a prize that will whisk you off to one of Ireland’s top angling centres. Our prize holiday includes the car ferry and five night’s bed and full breakfast in a twin ensuite room.

Ian Heaps certainly used to promote Irish Angling the year after he won the World Champs in the mid ’70’s.

There used to be a few that were worth going to. Angling Times, Shakespeare and Ivan Marks.

Thinking about it, I’m sure I went to a Daiwa one in the late ’70’s too when Mark Downes was associated with them.

Nice to see Dave Houghton is still involved with angling. He did much on Merseyside to give anglers a voice in the angling press. Never been replaced since he stopped reporting angling on Merseyside.

I think Ian Heaps did some promotional stuff for Daves Irish travel company and helped to sell a few holidays as part of Ian,s road show. I know Amer Jawad went over with them and had the time of his life on at least one of those trips in about 1983ish.
