        IVAN MARKS MEMORIAL 2012
        Saturday & Sunday 19th/20th May
        Mallory Park Fisheries

Day One: 70 anglers fished in extremely cold conditions at the Glebe complex, rain and a bitterly cold easterly wind made the fishing tough going, but although weights were down, the match was the closest in its history.

There were 13 weights over 100lbs and it was a nail biting finish to see who would be the top weight of the day as any of the 8 sections could have produced the winner.

Top weight was Team Marukyu angler Chris Downs who weighed a level 137lbs all carp net, caught on the feeder and long pole, using a variety of baits.

        Result:
        1st Chris Downs 137lbs
        2nd Jim Randle 135lbs
        3rd Jarrad Smith 132lbs
        4th Steve White 131lbs

        Section winners
        A C. Herick 109lbs
        B Chris Downs 137lbs
        C Tom Lanni 121lbs
        D Steve White 131lbs
        E Wayne Heywood 114lbs
        F Jarrad Smith 132lbs
        G Lee Wright 91lbs
        F Dom Lanni 112lbs

Day Two: Sunday realised a sell-out of over 100 entries competing for the highest individual weight over the two days to lift the “Ivan Marks Trophy.”
Everyone was hoping for a good draw so that they could challenge Saturday’s highest individual weight from Chris Ace Downs, which was 137lbs, but a bitterly cold easterly wind was to make life difficult on the bank.

It was to be a close call with a number of anglers in contention at the final weigh in. Day Two winner was Leicester’s Chris Needham with 129lbs from Glebe Pool 1, but it could have been even closer, as Chris is adamant a near 10lb carp jumped to freedom from his keepnet during the match.

Second highest weight came from Team Marukyu man Dominic Lanni who mustered 125lbs from an unfancied peg on Glebe Pool 5. In third spot was Jamie Adcock (Team Marukyu) with 121lbs from Glebe Pool 6.

It turned out to be a good fun day considering the harsh conditions, with plenty of money raised by the competing anglers.
Ivan’s widow, Linda Marks, presented the trophies and thanked everyone for attending.
As usual a healthy donation was to be presented to the “Fish Legal” fund of The Angling Trust, which Ivan was a big supporter of. (Originally the ACA)

        1st Chris Needham Leicester 129lbs
2nd Dominic Lanni Team Marukyu 125lbs
3rd Jamie Adcock Team Marukyu 121lbs

Top weight over the two days and Winner of the Ivan Marks Trophy: Chris Downs (Team Marukyu) 137lb

I hear that the fish that jumped out of Mr Needams net was the best looking fish in Glebe pool 1.
