TF_squattWow what a rod. I have Amorphous, Conny and Speccys – all have a use. I also recently bought an Aerocast 14ft – real class. But for super grunt ie Dutch work and long chucks the Browning King feeder 15ft is the boy. 100yards today in a good wind, once I get used to it there is still much more to get out of the rod. Worth a look to any long range bream boys.

TF_ropaNice one Lee, pleased you like it mate. The whole King Feeder range is seriously popular in Europe and hopefully now will catch on with the U.K Anglers who like to do a bit of long distance feeder fishing. The new reels out now the Black Magic Feeder 650 FD`s are an excellent addition for long distance casting. A lot of our anglers have got them now as they fish Loch Ken and Ireland and they are impressed with them.~clap

TF_squattMartin what are the hollow tips like compared to the standard ones ie uses and sensitivity. Also when do the drop feeders arrive in the UK.

TF_ropaLee, I`ve never used the hollow tips yet so can`t really comment on them. The Drop Feeders were due to be released beginning of January, so I`ll check with Germany tomorrow for you and get back to you mate. I`ll also try and find out what shops have them in stock.

TF_paulDRopa – there’s a 13′ version of the king feeder rod in the browning book. Have you seen it and is it any good IYO ?
I fancy something new for longish chucks on resevoirs and feeder fishing on rivers and i’m getting “well into” browning gear at the moment. Dont suppose i’ll find one in a shop to try.
Ive seen the Dutch using hollow tips and they swear by them. I think Greys do them as well. -

TF_ropaYes mate I have 2 of the 13ft models. I`t`s capable of 100yrd+ chucks, however it you are doing it into rough weather etc I would opt for the 14ft or even 15ft models, the whole range has been well thought out to suit distance feeder fishing, from the tips down to the butt sections where you can thread add on weights in to balance the rods to suit yourself. The 13ft and all the range in fact are sensitive enough for Roach fishing at distance as they now make tips down to 1/2oz. One thing I didn`t like about distance feeder rods was that whilst reeling in roach, there was no feel of the fish through the rod, these rods you can, and can feel the fight!!What area are you in and I`ll try and find out if anyone has a rod in stock locally. P.m me your poscode and I`ll get back to you. Like I say there is a lot of time and effort gone into this range and is seriously popular in Europe. Seems to be a few lads over here realising how good they are as well. Everybody who has had a look as ended up buying one!!!

TF_rocketFeederGot my Black Magic 665FD reels today, lovely reels. I was so impressed with the window feeders I got from ropa that I also purchased a trade pack of these today. King Feeder rod on order as well. Browning really have got their act together on the long distance feeder gear, simply awesome.

TF_paulDThanks Ropa. I spoke with a browning sponsored angler. Hes got one and is going to lend it to me for a couple of weeks so I can take it to a lake and have a chuck. Even if i dont catch I can try it for casting against m Diawas. My shop is going to get a couple of the reels in as someone else has asked about them aswell. The gold bits look a bit shiney though !

TF_squattMartin, Mick Hope is Strikemaster and his ‘new’ unit will be at Thorp Arch near Boston Spa. He’s the fella I got my 15ft King Feeder off. First met him 15 years ago, he’s spot on.

TF_ropaAnybody in the Yorkshire area or the North can give Mike a phone on 0751516778 at Strikemaster. He`s in the process of setting up a new tackle shop at Boston Spar and won`t be open fully until March. By the end of the week he will have the full range of Browning King Feeder Rods on display and the new Browning BM 650FD Long Cast Reels. Anybody wishing to see these rods give him a call first and he will make sure he is available for you until he`s opened fully.

TF_paulDYou were right Ropa. ~clap Took the 13’ King all season I borrowed over the playing fields Saturday for a go as couldnt think where else to take it. Rigged up with Diawa 3500 reel, 3lb maxima with shock leader and 40gr feeder with some crumb in. After a few goes got it to 90 turns which I paced out at about 75 yrds and im no casting expert. Reckon I could crack 85yds + with practice. I cant get anywhere near that with my Diawa 11/13s. It seemed to have a fair big of action too but would like to catch a fish on it to see. The rings are very big though !
Yorshires to far for me but ive been told to go to Big Fish Tackle in Essex. -

TF_squattThat’s what I found paulD. The Daiwa 11/13’s are well made and have plenty of action but I was always falling short in my mind on distance. The King Feeder I bought is a real casting animal but still has enough playing action.

TF_ropaThe rod rings are that big to improve the cast and retrieve. They are made to be used with big spooled reels, pit reels or whatever you want to call them. On wide spooled reels such as the new BM 650FD there would be to much friction on the rings if they were of a smaller diameter. So they are larger than normal for a purpose.

Is there no one in Cheshire that stocks browning gear -

TF_paulDjust found out that browning reps have samples and will leave them in a shop for anglers to see. I might have a look at the 14′ version first before deciding but may be over the top.
At the other end of the scale just seen their 8′ carp wand in a shop – bought one as couldnt resist it! – but not much use at Loch Kenn eh Ropa ! -

TF_squattYou say the 14 footer might be OTT, I bought the 15 footer. Love it, wind it up and launch it. I’m just wondering whether to flea bay my stock of Daiwa 11/13’s and buy some more King feeders.

Are the models in the 2011 catalogue any different from last years
Seen one for sale in a tackle shop but don’t know if it’s the latest model or an old version

TF_ropaNo mate, this years models are the same as last years. The King Feeder Range though was re-designed for 2010, so the range as you see it is 2 years old. If the rods have a screw in base at the butt section they are the latest models and will have a green criss cross pattern above the reel seat on the first part of the rod. The 13ft model is actually the rod that changed the most “All Seasons” Now it`s a 13ft casting rod, but before it came with 2 different middle sections which altered the action of the rod to suit different conditions. Many lads who have this rod regard it with the softer action middle section to be the best bream rod they have had and will not part with them. I am pushing for this rod to be re-introduced for the U.K Market as I still get asked questions about it. Now that the King Feeder Range is becoming popular in this country hopefully Browning will re-introduce it.
