PazzaHow much are you looking to spend. I’ve got a Shimano Beastmaster handle that I can’t fault. Been going strong since 2005, it’s light when used with two sections, but can be extended to 4m. If you ever fish rivers the extra length will be worth every penny.

TF_carpus67Participantlee did mine a couple of weeks ago lifting ice out. i got the drennan ex strong carp match 3.3m 3 peice.the top two sections are threaded so you can either use it at 3.3m or 2.2m.the screwed ends are brass and they are glued and pinned so they will never come loose. as the name implys they are mega strong as well. go and see cobby and get a deal in the shop for £40.00 notes.

TF_craigmGarbolino Netsy 366, top two section are threaded so can be used at either 2m or 3m. They are quite expensive but worth every penny.

TF_iansi01354Had Shaky, Garbolino and Daiwa Tourney (the blue one) and have to say would vote for the Drennan, awesome, cheaper than a lot and pinned threads…..can’t fault them!

TF_piperpilotThe drennan ex-strong is IMHO the best. And I have tried most of the rest,

TF_scarfTricast. Two piece, slim, strong, stiff, cheap.

TF_Man of KentWas thinking of a Garbo Netsy 366 a while back after feeling how light and strong my mates was. However, the end thread seems to be made of aluminium and it actually broke (split) on him as he was landing a fish and the net head containing the fish actually came clean out of the thread and sunk. This really put me off that handle and I’m waiting for them to change it for brass. It could be a long wait, as Garbo’s reply was that only UK use brass whilst the rest of Europe prefer Aluminium (smells of male bovine faeces, to me!).
I currently have an old Preston EasyNet, which has been great for about 8 years or so, but it’s pretty heavy for me since I broke my left wrist last year. I had a feel of a Drennan Extra Strong, but it’s as heavy as the EasyNet IMO and therefore not an upgrade.
Has anyone got any thoughts about the new Fox FX handles?

TF_piperpilotI’m pretty sure that the latest Netsy’s will have a ‘Pinned’ thread to stop them coming loose and falling out like my one did,

WaggyMaver competition pro! can be switched between a long handle for the rivers ect, or a short commercial 2 piece handle which is stiff and pretty light! well worth the money imo!

TF_Man of KentRon, it wasn’t the pin (or lack of) that was the problem. Aluminium simply isn’t the right material. The whole of the threaded head simply split open far enough for the net to fall out of where the threads should have been in contact.
Sorry: didn’t mean to hijack the thread, but will take a look at some of the suggested handles, thanks.
