Light pulla elastics and tight pole joints

Couple of things please

What lacky do people recommend to use for winter spring F1’s with pullas? I like hydro and use black and white for summer / autumn bigger fish etc. Tried the light blue hydro recently which is fine for good stamp F1’s and good fighters but for the smaller fish and those that don’t put up a fight it seems a bit harsh! Tried yellow Vespe, still seems a bit harsh. Thoughts?

Also what is the best way to sort a tight, stiff joint {not elbow!}
Regularly break down between sections 6 & 7 but they really stick when taking apart every time? Is it just a bit of wet and dry and then something to coat on?

Another vote for preston slip No4 doubled, was landing carp to 5lb yesterday in 14ft of water using a side puller, when they wake up propper white hydro and side puller will land anything in open water.
As for your joint i would not rub it down with anything abrasive you could try rubbing a candle lightly on the male section. Take it thats its not a Daiwa pole :rolleyes:

First two for no 4 so I could give that a try
It is daiwa pro X and now using the double hole side pullas so wonder whether it might be bit fiddly grabbing two strands as the lacky does twist up using these when you pull back but it’s not a problem with single strand
I’ve got a rubbed down candle to expel water re joint locking etc but that didn’t work. Its probably just major grimy and needs a good clean and re preparing cos it’s the section I always tend to break down on on the venues i fish

have you tried pink hydro, its got bags of stretch but with a pulla would be fine im sure, as long as your not fishing for a mega weight that is. As for the sticking joint i would have said candle wax too, you don’t need much tho. Gotta say tho its normally the other way around with top end Daiwa’s, you can’t keep em together usually 😀 used to have the tourney pro!

I wouldn’t use any abrasives on the sections either. Just give them a good clean then a rub down with candle wax. To prevent me pushing the joints together too far on an old Maver pole I had back in the early 90’s that was always sticking I just put it together at home. Then where I wanted the joints to end up I put a couple of wraps of tape around the male joint so that I couldn’t push it in too far. I never got it stuck again. 😮

Try the Middy 6-10, I had the same issues with blue hydro until I switched and find its great on the pulla but too soft without.

As for the joints I agree with the others, nothing abrasive, good clean etc. Does the section stick without fish on or only with?

Just wondering if you could move your rollers around and with softer elastic unship earlier or later, maybe its the bend or angle on your pole thats making it more difficult than it should be?

I don’t think your joints are sticking in the normaly accepted way; I find that my G8 sticks or locks up but only when breaking down with a fish on.
Many power poles and particularly the G8 are designed to bend slightly so the pressure of a carp creates a sideways force on the joint you’re trying to break down – I find it particularly bad when breaking down at the 5 to 6 joint. If you can break down ok when shipping in without a fish on then the flexing when playing a fish is most certainly the cause of the problem.

Try a soft lead pencil,(the oblong joiners pencils are best for this) on the male joint after a good clean. Rub it on and lightly wipe it off a few times in succession. This should help your sticking joint probs.

some1 told me about using a pencil, and it does work! far better than candle wax!
as for laccy, try latex, much more forgiving…

try the senas black 500 stretch 1.75 laccy – between pink and blue hydro- and good enough for occasional proper carp.
