TF_JonniTimmsHad a crack off on the method today (20g feeder, 6lb guru drag line) when casting.
Its not something I have had happen before but it really affected my confidence hitting the clip.
Is there anything you can do to minimise the damage to the line from the clip? Or is it just one of those things?
Ive also noticed that my 4lb line on my reactorlite gets very badly damaged when using the pellet wag.

TF_wildingukAm finding the same re the damage with my tdr’s. Thinking of switching over toe tdms with the HIP line friendly clip.
Think it’s a common problem…..one solution a few have mentioned to me is using number 12 elastic, tying it as a sliding stopknot I think on the linbe, with a loop to put over the clip. Not tried it yet, but will be doing soon.

TF_JonniTimmsSo on one of the tag ends of the stop knot you tie a loop?
Sounds like a possible solution to try

Put the band inside the clip itself like you would the line?

TF_piperpilotI had the same problem with my TDR’s. The pellet band method is spot on and I’ve not had a crack off since,

TF_JonniTimmsFogot to say… thats a technique I have tried and seem to overdo so the feeder falls short, or I hit the island.
Or do you mean clip up AND feather the line? In which case my clip still damages the line, so should the fish run hard, I could still get cracked off

TF_Nigel.A problem we have at Barston is you may be catching 2lb bream and F1s, and then wham you have a 15lber on!
Being shallow, they storm off, and you cant unclip quick enough somtimes, so i have swapped to the Map QRS reel (Quick release system) it has a side clip, and the line come out as soon as a fish pulles line off the clutch, Brilliant!~clap -

TF_guntaThere was a problem with the tdr clips ages ago ,if thats what you were using, try rubbing a bit of wet and dry paper behind the clip in case it has a sharp edge.

TF_JonniTimmsThe reel was a shimano exage but the reactorlite damages the line terribly

TF_dave brittainPut a small piece of number 6 elastic into the clip so that the line beds into the elastic.
If you are fishing tight to an island try to get into the habit of casting and while the feeder/lead is in the air bring the rod parallel with the bank so that when the line hits the clip the rod feathers the line at 90 degrees.
If you do it correctly, (it takes practice), you will be able to get 2-3 turns on the reel when you put the rod in the rest and tighten up and this should give you time to turn any bonus fish.

I stick the rod back straight up in the air and hit the clip instead of putting it to the side. Just found i get the rod in the same position more often as opposed to the side. Or should i be doing it to the side?

coxp001ParticipantFold a pellet band over your line and pull it through it’s self so that it locks in place. Then put the band round the clip. If you hit a big fish and it runs it will snap the band but will leave a bit of band on your line so you know exactly where to put the new band

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantFeather it down as your about to hit your clip this way you can control your line at the same time
