Beauty of these is that you can move the rubber tube up which increases the amount of feed you can use. For long range in any form of wind you’ll need bigger than 28g (1 oz), something like 50g is about right. For the rocket (Preston Dutchmaster Style) feeder your better off with the WB Clarke/Leeda model, PM me and I’ll send a picture. These feeders are the same style as the dutchmaster but a) don’t rust in 6 months and b) have much bigger bodies. I believe Matrix are bringing out a distance feeder this year for the UK market similar to the Zammataro distance feeders with the pointy end.

The best distance feeders for casting across big winds that I have come across are Michale Schlogl’s Patrone feeders. Speedhorfs are good too.

Great different slider floats too – Zoomer 4’s in particular.

The trouble with the Preston feeders is the lead is too far from the base of the feeder so they snag on rocks and ledges when you have fish on.

The Kevin Leach feeders are a dream when crosswinds are not to strong.
