What size hooks are you using? Sounds strange but sometimes dropping down a size gets a better hook hold.
Qm1’s very rarely come out in my experience. What are you targeting carp or f1’s?

You want to try bending the hook sideways to give it a small angle. The force on the hook goes sideways which helps to stop hook pulls. QM1’s already have this.
If you are hair rigging the QM1’s then try a shorter hair length.

Gazer I dont think your doing anything wrong, It just happens I won a match 3 weeks ago and I was 7 – 0 down at one point, some might criticise and say bad angling but everyone loses fish.

They could be foul hookers, the type of fishing you were doing on Sunday can lead to foul hooking problems anyway.

What elastic and hook were you using?

Hi Gazer. I can well understand your frustrations. After a good few sessions when almost all my hooked fish were safely landed ive come back to earth with a bang. my last two sessions have seen me lose half the fish ive hooked. I dont fish many matches so its no big deal when a fish comes off but its irritating to say the least and spoils an otherwise fruitful outing. I ve thought it may be the hooks im using (b911s) but if im using them on the good days it cant be them.I fish the method, slow sinking bubble and the pole at seven metres on my local aston ponds with meat and corn. Ive reached the conclusion that losses are part and parcel of our sport Also another point worth mentioning is that a lot of the carp in commercials have been caught a lot and have ragged mouths due to bad handling.
