I am researching Lough Muckno in County Monaghan in Ireland and would ppreciate feedback from anyone who has fished there over the past two or three years. I would like to hear views on the quality of fishing, access, facilities, welcome, accommodation etc. Names and addresses not needed, just indication of where you ae from.

          Hi Frank,

Really only discovered the beauty and quality of fishing at Muckno over the last few months.

Fishing is superb and with the new access roads being built, I am sure Muckno will become a mecca for anglers if developed and managed properly.

Something has to be done with Hope Castle as that is an eyesore which detracts from the beauty of the place.

Can I ask why you have an interest?

May I suggest you contact Mr Richard Caplice of the Irish Angling Developemnt Alliance. He is spearheading the development on the lake and will be facilitating the many festivals being run on the lake in Spetember.
