Makins – Pegging Help Phase 1 lake 2 whole lake

hi all,

Can anybody help who has been fishing and opens or clubbies here recently?

Next week we have a match on lake 2 phase 1 for just 18 anglers – but have the whole lake available.

We have one bit of good advice and a recommendation so far, but we are looking for a few to make best fist of it as it were.

Most of us dont know the water very well and like most things on matches everyone has a slightly different slant regarding pegging etc.

When you only have one club match a year on it, you want to have best chance of a good match for all.

So can you help us out?

Ps I dont see as many reports now on Makins so that bit of info has gone 🙁

We fished it twice last year, and it was awful, A bank always seems more consistent than B bank when we fish it. I was lucky enough to draw peg A4 and had 133lb off it to the long pole and pellet, however backup weights started at 33lb coming 2nd. Another match on there i drew A12 and had 24lb on the pole for 3rd on the lake, seems to get worse every year to me, but we’re not regulars at all!!! i think the guys who fish it regular will tell you and they still catch plenty i believe. A20 is a good peg and B25, A4 and A8 and a lot of the mid to high teen A pegs, well thats my personal opinion so probably wrong!

I would go as follows.
A1 A4 A6 A8 A9 A11 A13 A15 A20
B2 B7 B11 B13 B15 B17 B19 B21 B23 B25

Thats 19 there so you can leave one out which would possibly be B7 although if you do the fish will end up in the bowl ffor sure.
