New Maver flat bed roller,a real aid to double shipping, when fishing long,or the bank behind is awkward.Whatever you like as a secondary roller i use a Diawa rock and roller.

Another vote for the Maver flatbed roller. It goes as high as most ‘V’ rollers but is far more stable. As stated, the two rollers that it has help no end if you have to double ship. Brilliant buy as far as I am concerned.

I did consider the MAP flat V but at the time I couldn’t find one. Reading the blurb it looked quite good though.

Havig had the mavers since they came out I can confirm they are very good rollers but they do a have a problem, one the MAP roller does not.

At the lowest setting the Maver is often too high and you end up having the have a very high back roller to keep you pole tip on the water when shipping back, this has obvious issues.

The MAP is lower so makes it far easier on 90 percent of banks to ship smoothly back paralel to the bank !

Give it a few months and they will be heavily discounted in your local tackle shop same as the meat cutters and the hooklength boxes.

Have a look at the Milo Brooklyn rollers.
They do three sizes including a double, i’ve had mine since they came out and they really are very very good.

Bobco in leeds and Paul Chambers in Featherstone have them. Seem like a good idea but a bit “wobbly” when extended. I prefer a quality V with the preston roller stops fitted; more accurate when shipping back through vegetation etc.

I have the maver xl flatbed roller and think its ideal in most circumstances, but as has been said its lowest setting is still too high.

On the MAP, when they were first released/advertised along with the price I thought it was a joke, trying to fix a problem that didn’t exist.

However at the One Show last month I found one to look at in person, I was actually quite impressed with the quality and also the min/max height admittedly its about 6″ lower than the Maver on its highest setting but I’ve yet to have needed the Maver at its max. So I took the plunge and bought one (luckily my mate had said if I saw one could I get it for him, so I knew my money was safe) the next day I had a match where I could try it out. I now take back almost all my worries and concerns its actually very very good at what it does, other than the price I’d say its every bit as good as the Maver adept its only a single rather than double roller, mind I can quite happily double ship using each side of the V.

Map apparently will be releasing a double version later this year, if its as good as this one it’ll be better than the Maver (well except that price tag) I’ve now ordered a 2nd single and the Maver will be going to the spares area in my shed

I have the maver flat with the two seperate rollers. it ships lovely but is quite high. But mine does have a manufacturing problem in that the buttons that clip in, are located properly on one side so there fore it is actually uneven when the legs are out, and one side legs does meet at the top . so just have a look.

I got mine at the BIG ONE so cant return it, plus i got it at bargain price so i wont moan too much!!
