TF_folk in hailI genuinely like Python.
Not keen on Map gear on the whole, bought a pair of their bagging boots, and they split in next to no time.

They are a good idea not very well implemented. The hooklengths are very hard to get into the slots also aren’t held under any tension so they fall out in transit and get mixed up. Mine lasted 2 days and then I sold it. I’m sticking with Buffy boxes from now on.

TF_sillysodthere was a thread about these a while back and the general opinion was that they are a good ideal but not fully thought out and not very well put together,i was gonna get one but have since changed my mind and stuck with the preston boxes or winders if i need to

TF_LolBHad mine since they came out. And yes they are a bit finicky. I only use every other peg. The most important thing i have found is to make sure the knot sits behind the foam. I also use a little wire hook to keep the line under tension as i slot the line in. Have never any other probs with it at all.

Can you explain why? I also have one of these hookboxes which is yet to see a hooklength so I am interested as to why you think they are so bad.
Thanks.

TF_squattLids are flimsey. There is no rubber gasket which the lid closes against making them waterproof. Foam slots a pegs are too small, close and fiddley. A good idea badly made I will be sticking to my wooden box and large pole winders and reselling my MAP crap!

AnonymousNo faults with them in my opinion and I think they’re well made etc.

TF_fadd1stBiggest problem is the lack of a decent waterseal on both the lids. Also the pins are too close and the foam loses its grip easily and the hooklengths end up in a mess. A good idea but not field tested properly or if it was the testers where not honest with their appraisal of it.

TF_GavinI personally use the Preston boxes without problem, but those who say the MAP are rubbish, did you not look at them in the shop before you bought? From the problems people have picked out they should have been seen in the shop, and then you’d have saved yourself the money!

TF_Mr WhippyI like mine, but probably think I’d say less foam slots. Capacity is huge so you can space things out if you want. If you can size your hooklengths so the knot sits against the foam a big bonus, my hooklengths are now about 3mm shorter – not a problem.
Doesn’t solve the main problem – the tedium of tying hooks.
