I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this months magazine and it was better than APF which recently I have found not to be the case.

Something that struck me was do publications / media need to spread their net wider more frequently. I would imagine that is you are a ‘name’ angler with lots of publishing opportunities it must get more and more difficult to produce interesting article. Hence, I doff my cap to the likes of Scotthorne and Ringer. I like reading Mick Bull stuff but can he keep going month after month etc etc.

However, the big factor for me were the ‘lower profile’ rarely published anglers and what they contributed.

First Chavey. I know we joked with him and yes a cover warning was probably merited but I enjoyed his article immensely. A forgotten method but moreso how he attemptted to explain his reasoning and decision making.

Second Kev Leach. I will be using many of the ideas he offered in forthcoming months, years etc. Irrespective of geography we all have bream venues where we can apply his ideas.

Perhaps MF and other publications should vary the contributors more and seek out class acts like Chavey and Kev Leach more.

Hopefully you will enjoy some new ‘names’ next month as well…including two regular T-F posters

I agree with you there, the chance to do a feature was fantastic for me and i really enjoyed doing it. I think i made an interesting read and was something a bit different. The fish were not playing that day, but at least it was a true reflection of how Ferry Meadows can fish. I just hope it inspires a few people to go there and catch a bream of a lifetime. There are some double figure fish in there with loads of 7 and 8lb ers. Its a special venue and i could have gone on a peg more favourable to the conditions(It was blowing a hooligan) But i had to do it on my favourite peg 97 as i have won so much money off it.
