TF_feduphave or should i say had a maver medusa pole ………………yes they stop making them years ago …i know ……heres the story saved and saved to get myself a decent pole ,decided on a MAVER MEDUSA 16 M .got it in the end thought great then had 3 heart attacks so couldnt fish for years ,so pole never got used ,recently thought its time to get myself out by the bankside again ,thought great can use the pole i brought years ago ,only used it a few times ,when twice no problems ,third time unlucky hooked a small carp only a few pound if that ,u guessed it pole went into self destruct mode and didntnt just break it shattered into 8 places ,all the way down to section 4 ,so i thought hardly used it must be something wrong with it ,which you would so tried getting intouch with MAVER UK ,has anyone one tried getting intouch with them ,its a feet its self ,emails just get bounce back ,so thought they must be a way .ohhhh there is ,if you want to buy a new one you can get straight though ,no problem ,the guy there was helpful told him the story said i,ll pass it on to returns ,GREAT I THOUGHT ,lady rang told her the story showed her photos ,have a word with my boss she said and ring u back …. she rang back with the not so great news ,not willing to do anything its too old dont make them anymore …. wouldnt you think they would at least check the pole out seeing it had hardly been used which u can see its like new been used half a dozon times , three match fisherman were there when it broke and they even said ur pole must be faulty get on too maver ,THIS IS MY POINT ….how long do you think a expensive hardly used pole should last ……….if your like me a few years longer than mine did unlike MAVER who couldnt seen to care a less 😡

AnonymousTo answer your topic question, ultimately anything is only worth what you are willing to pay for it.
Second, why are you contacting Maver ? You didn’t buy it from them. Did you ? You should be contacting the original seller.
Third, if the whole top 3 shattered into many pieces I would say that you were giving it too much stick and possibly didn’t set it up correctly (not cut back enoough etc) and so the carbon got to the point where it simply couldn’t absorb any more so shattered (high grades have a habit of doing that). Probably not set it up for carp and then your set-up wasn’t right for the job when you hooked one.
Fourth, even if you have only used it 1/2 dozen times doesn’t mean that you cannot ever have knocked it slightly causing the problem.
Fifth, you have used it before a 1/2 dozen times with no problems so chances are there was nothing actually wrong with it.

TF_Fred Davisagree with richbox on this one he’s spot on, poles are normally sold with a twelve month warranty against manufacturing faults, the manufacturers normally supply spares for a minimum of 5 years and this is after the pole has been discontinued, the fact that you have not used the pole for such a long time only means that you have a little used discontinued pole, it does not mean that any onus of repair or refund should be down to maver especially after such a lengthy period of time. the other point made was the trouble you had contacting maver and getting a response, well when you bought the pole the contract is between your goodself and the tackle shop you purchased it from not from the manufacturer, at least maver did get back to you even if it was not to your satisfaction, anyway aside nice to see that your fit enough to be back on the bank and hopefully enjoying life

TF_Fred Davislets be fair here lads the maver medussa is quite a strong pole as a suggestion I would advise the poster to keep his eyes open on ebay as there normally one or two on there and sell for less than what it cost to buy a new top kit and 4th section from maver. Generally it is a very good carp pole and I know one very good anglers who used one coining regularly, he preferred to use the medussa as opposed to his main pole and thought it spot on for match carp.

TF_splitshotTotally disagree with the medusa not being a good strong pole. I have only had 2 or 3 breaks in using this pole in 10-12 years and have really bagged on them having over 1000lb in a 3 day festival on one. Still a great pole for sacking.

TF_sillysodlike all poles some will like them and some will slate them,i know people with cheap maver poles that have lasted longer than my garbolino but my garbolino has lasted longer than some peoples other manufacturers poles.

TF_splitshotI also have a G10 and the only breaks I’ve had have been my own fault. But I have seen many posts slagging them of as well. Each to there own.
