TF_baitchefParticipantDo you think its a perseverance thing?

AnonymousYes, i have done it on venues like Cudmore new pools. It can be deadly on venues where the fish will not except a pole over there heads close in or come into your swim up in the water before dropping down to feed. Also, works very well in the inside margins when the carp are easily spooked by a pole over there heads. A bait runner is useful for this way of fishing!

TF_baitchefParticipantSavage bites? How about if you set the clutch?
Was thinking of feeding hookbaits (8mm pellet) over the top for added attraction. What do you think? -

TF_NathanWatsonYeh, can work, loosefeed it and just try later in day, I just backwind after bite!

AnonymousYes, very savage bites! Keep hold of your rod unless your using a bait runner but a loose drag will help. Feeding over the top is ideal for attracting extra fish in to your peg close in. The other big advantage with the method is that you get almost no foul hooked fish even when there are loads of big carp in the peg. An issue loads of anglers have lots of problems with. The method solves the problem!

TF_baitchefParticipantI know its probably a bit numpty, but sometimes thats all it takes.

AnonymousNot something i would want to do all the time but it is good enough to win me a load of open matches on Cudmore New Pools a few years ago when i was a regular. Strange thing was that others knew what i was doing but almost nobody was prepared to follow what i was doing. Guess they thought it was a numpty method as you say. Who cares if it works under match conditions?

TF_baitchefParticipantI know what you mean, i think sometimes we all look towards the really skillfull methods, because we feel a bit awkward doing something thats too easy or too simple??

AnonymousWorks well in the margins at whiteacres. Sometimes you’ll see the bottom boiling up in your margin peg but as soon as you put a pole over them they go. Drop a small method feeder in and they come straight back.

TF_OggyUsed it to good effect at Larford especially on the speci lake.

TF_Tim_DI tried this for the first time the other week. I was fishing at 6m on the pole with meat feeding by dumping hemp and meat over top. I was getting plenty of liners, odd foul hookers and some in the gob but suffering from a lot of missed bites. Hour and a half to go dropped by method over it with punched meat and caught well on it to the end, they were a good stamp of carp and didn’t lose any. I didn’t have a bait runner so left the back wind on, the bites are mental, rod rips rounds and handle goes mad, just pick up rod and keep it low, every fish stopped and you’d wind them back in. Not sure if it’s gonna work everytime but certainly one to keep under the hat.

TF_drawbag1967Why not just long line a method.
-

TF_baitchefParticipantI have tried the method on the pole on the same line, and for some reason i could never really get them going on it, dont know why, because this is the main pole and paste line (which is deadly). So i dont think its the pole spooking them. I think its effective on the rod and line because of the bolt effect from the rod tip, but could well be wrong. There is probably an explanation somewhere, but its just one of those things.
