        Does it make any difference as to the line diamater when methhod fishing ? and also does the type of bait used on the hair affect the catch rate.

          The answer to the first part is probably not but I wouldn’t go much below 6lb BS. Where allowed I would use a couple of shot on the main line to sink the line near the feeder and avoid too many line bites.

          The answer to the second part is yes, it can make a difference. Sometimes you can catch on a bare hook though if it is buried in the feed on the feeder.
