TF_sheriffDuring round 3 of our winter league the organiser announced that he was missing £80 of team money from the previous round……before you can draw you have to pay the 4 x £20 team money for the day…….
Due to it not being accounted for and no team saying that they had not paid, the league organiser said that it would be deducted from the final league payout!!
How do we know he did not lose it or miss place it himself and if he was ticking everyone off why should we lose it from team payouts,
I look forward to your views!!!

TF_Kagger TNBIf you take on the responsibility for running a match, then that involves the draw, money, venue etc.
If the organiser can’t say who has or hasn’t paid, then it’s up to him.
In his shoes i’d take the hit and put it down to experience.

TF_nick2bMatch organisers do loads of work in advance, bookings/venues etc. They sort the draw out, they get to the matches early to sort the pegging out, invariably do scales, collect and account for the money, pay the venue and lots lots more.
Very occasionally something like this happens despite their best efforts – someone doesn’t pay, the money is lost, someone gets paid out too much cos the maths is wrong.
When this happens I would expect the attendees to rally round and share the burden. I suspect that the ones who complain most are the ones who would be most unable or unwilling to give their time for free to do this thankless task for everyone else’s benefit.
In case my view isn’t clear, I’d summarise by saying give the guy a break and try and see things from his point of view – it’s not like he can give the money back from his fees is it? -

TF_sheriffperhaps i should of said venue owner who was running his own winter league, especially when its in excess of 100 anglers should be switched on in my eyes…. and if he needed help…..theres quite a few who would and who do help.

TF_craigmI think if it is a venue owner that is running the league he should stump up the missing cash.
If its an individual running the league off his own back then a whip round to make up the missing cash would be fairer. -

TF_Nigel.Venue owner!, 100anglers £800 peg fees, just take £80 out of that, i would be embarrassed myself to say i had lost £80, i would just put it in!

TF_Average AlParticipantIn the circumstances you outline nick2b I,m with you, “sh*t happens” 🙁 However given that this is apparantly a 100 peg league organised by the venue owner who, over the course of the league must be making a bob or two on pegs that may other wise be unsold, I think he/she should cover this loss 😮 Just my opinion of course.

TF_nick2bIn the case of the venue (and presumably non fishing) owner, I would tend therefore to agree.

Nick, If I’m right. I think you’ll find said person fished/fishes the matches.

TF_the margin gnomeProblem with running matches is that people dont realise just how difficult it is. People ask random questions. ‘Have you got a pen’ , ‘two nets?’ , ‘what time we in?’. Then theres the captains who forget to pay. Too busy chatting. The teams who turn up short and forget to tell you. Etc etc etc.
I was £20 short the other week and put it myself but believe me its so easy to miscount while people are hassling you. Its easy to put too much in an envelope by mistake. Its easy to miss someone hasnt paid at all if you are not very careful.
If i thought it was my error i would take the hit. If i thought someone had stolen the cash id have taken it off the anglers all day and made a very big point about that fact.
