Its about a year since I fished it mate, but what is certain it will be rock hard!
4m chop worm (just a little)go on this first it may or may not work.
8 to 9 metres with GB and squatt (looking for about 8ft of water) Yes it is wide and deep! Rigs 4×12, 4×14, 4×16 bulk rig. Cup about 3 to 4 balls in with squatt, a pouch of hemp, pouch of squatt to kick start the line. Watch the flow, some rather large barges come down it = rather large locks and the consequent movement. So always throw a few squatts in the edge to so if its running or your bait could be in the next peg. Plumb up another section after that line to follow the fish out later. If its windy dont be afraid to lay a foot on the deck. The maggot line nathan mentions hasnt been as good in later years so I always turn it into an eel line. Bait dropper choppie and caster on 14 to 16 and leave it, keep topping it up until you have to go on it(you will eventually)If you hook one they are swimmers running a pound to two pounds so strong gear on. Feeder line approxamtely one metre from the other bank, looking for chub here and they are good ones 2 to 3 lbs on a lobby or large dendra, GB and caster in feeder or straight lead, you will pick up an odd perch but they are worth catching.Waggler works against the far bank but the weather has to be right, for feeding maggot etc and you will need the yellow/green tops for the lighting conditions.
Rigs on top three for 4m, top 4 for squatt and top 4.5 for 16m line. I would go a carp rig something like .16 on the eel line with a good elastic because those snakes live in holes and soon find their way back very quickly! The maggot line nathan mentions has not been as good unless your on a shedful, catch in practice but not good on matches. Bronze maggot if you need to. Squatt rigs .10 to .08 hooklenths B511 in 24 and 22. Hope that helps mate
