admin-old-craigHi All,
New forum, brave new world. There may be some teething problems from the import, the old software was a bit of a dinosaur. The main issues will likely come from logins.
A good number of you had multiple accounts, that is, a main account and an account with a different username but the same email address. The new system won’t allow accounts to share an email address, so some won’t have been imported. The accounts/posts still exist on the forum, they will just need to be re-tied to a main site account.
Try and log in via the top left login link, if that doesn’t work then try to log in via:
https://www.total-fishing.com/phpbbforum/ucp.phpIf neither work, and you know your email address, use the login link in the top left. Then click lost password and enter your email address. Follow the instructions you get in the email.
I’d advise clearing out your browsers cookies if you are having problems with failed login attempts, or if you are logged into the site but don’t have forum access. Reload the site, then try logging in again. This should start you off on a clean slate in terms of authentication.
Finally, if you know your username and email address, try making a new account using the register button in the top left using the same details. In rare cases this may work.
If you are still having problems, please fill this form out and have a little patience before making a new account!

Thanks for your patience, and I hope you enjoy the new forum features.

Posts that have new replies have the reply count on the left in red. I can maybe look to change the colour of the topic title as well if you think it’s not obvious enough.

I’ve fixed that now, I can’t seem to replicate the unread posts problem. When I read a thread then go back to the forum listing the thread I was just in goes grey.
If you just want to surf unread posts though you can use the unread posts option at the top?

TF_Smedtypical SPAM that you get when you set up a new forum anywhere, i had loads of trouble with it when i set up my clubs website/forums
its caused by bots permanantly trying to reg on forums anywhere in the world, when they do they post crap like that.
admins need to set captcha control for new members logging on, this will stop it. -

admin-old-craigWe know about it, there is a CAPTCHA in place already for new registrations, the problem is some of the accounts being used to post the spam are old accounts, generally created in the last few months.
It’s a weird one, they must have been able to register on the old site, but the bot could never figure out how to post. Now it is on a new forum and knows how to post, the bots are logging in under their original accounts and spamming.
We are deleting the accounts when they crop up so it will stop given a little time.
..and Dave, one of the reasons for doing this whole upgrade was basically because the old site was written using a disused set of software, at a dead end, it was unmaintainable. The idea was really to rebuild what was already there using software that is more flexible and easier to maintain. More upgrades will likely come over time (now that they are even possible).

TF_geepsterParticipantJust a quick note that quite a few people are having issues logging onto or registering on the new forum. This is something we did expect as we have changed platforms which is the right thing to do in the long term.
However it’s none the less frustrating if you are trying to post and can’t. Please bear with us we are working through every person who has contacted us. Paul (my technical guy) is on holiday this week but he will deal with everything when he gets back.
Please email [email protected] with any issues your are having.
