        REPORT

MOLANDS This pool is in terrific form this week with some big weights winning matches and plenty of good back up weights. Derek Hartshorn of Coventry, fishing under the Swann Baits banner, enjoyed a red letter week winning the Vets match on Tuesday with 130lb from peg 45, which is a venue best for the Starlets Vets. On Wednesday afternoon, Derek drew peg 60 and caught 125lb for a superb double. Both catches consisted of F1’s and carp and were taken on a small pellet waggler and 8mm pellet. Shallow tactics were the best approach for many anglers with either long pole and pellet or waggler and pellet working well. Best pegs 2 – 4, 8 – 13, 17 – 23, 29 – 31,
        43 – 46 and 56 – 60.

GEARYS Gearys is another pool fishing well with skimmers and carp showing all around the pool. Straight lead and pellet or waggler with 8mm pellet is accounting for the better catches of carp and fish to nearly 20lb have been weighed in during matches this week. The skimmers are responding to paste, pellet or corn fished on the pole and they are coming really close in with good nets taken at 2 – 3 metres from the platforms. The best pegs have been 9 – 13, 18, 20, 27 – 30 and 36.

LITTLE GEARYS Very consistent this week and the anglers are getting some action from all pegs. Shallow pole and pellet or a small method fished to the island has been best tactic during matches. Pleasure anglers have reported big catches of F1’s, carp, tench and skimmers fishing corn or meat down the near margin. Hot pegs are 1, 6 – 9, 11, 21, 23 and 27.

GRATUITIES There were some cracking catches on Gratuities last week but John Downing’s winning match weight of 77lb on the Packington Vets match took some beating as 60lb of it was made up of crucians from ½lb – 1lb, all caught on paste at five metres from peg 4. Generally the pool has been in great form with carp, tench, crucians and skimmers showing well to pole fished pellet or paste. Best pegs are 1, 4, 8, 9, 11 and 15.

WILLOW The better carp with fish from 5 – 15lb have been caught by fishing right under your feet with corn or meat with the evening session best. For a good mixed days fishing just fish pellet or caster either shallow or on the bottom for mixed nets of skimmers, tench, F1’s and carp. Best pegs are 1, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 13.

SIBLINGS Some good bags of tench caught last week with the odd bonus carp up to double figures. Meat, corn or 8mm pellets fished close in have worked best with the pegs around the reed beds in the best form.

ANNIVERSARIES The heavy rain affected the 02 levels during the early part of the week and catches were down but improved towards the weekend. Tench and crucians provided the main sport with float fished corn, pellet and paste all working reasonably well. A few double figure carp were caught by fishing meat or big pellets close in down the margins. Best pegs are 1 – 6, 12, 15 and 21 – 23.
