Report:
Fished on the “Deeps”, pegs 9 to 28, anglers were met by a very sharp frost as they arrived at their pegs (and started fishing), the banks covered in white frost, which gradually cleared although temperatures remained below 3C all day. There was very little wind, a little sunshine, and very cold throughout.
In spite of this, the anglers targeting “silvers” enjoyed a great day’s sport, with some superb roach (to over 1 lb), skimmers and hybrids a pound and a half, and perch to 12 ozs were landed. There was one small carp caught (by an angler who did not weigh in).
Billy Marlow on peg 10, on his first visit to fish a Nisa Open, produced a superb display of long pole fishing, and baiting with caster put 28-06 on the scales to win.
On peg 13, Dan Morris (also on his first visit) fished in a similar manner for his 25-04 for second place, as did third placed (venue regular) Liam Lynott, who on peg 19 caught 22-09. Trevor Wyse on peg 15 complated the prize-winners, with last week’s winner, Shaun Weed narrowly missing out with 18-03 from peg 18.
Mick Chapman (peg 9) included several big skimmer bream in his 11-11 for sixth place.
The next “Nisa Feeders” Open will be on Wednesday 29th December on Lambsdown Lake.
NB. ‘NISA Feeders’ Opens are at Meadowlands Fishery most Wednesdays. Book in before 10pm the previous evening (see Facebook: Nisa – midweek Open Matches), draw in car park 8:30am-8:45am, fishing 10:00am-3:00pm.
