Report:
The match was fished on “The Deeps” and anglers again had to contend with a vicious side wind throughout the day making bait presentation extremely difficult when fishing the pole. Although not everyone weighed in, all caught fish (including at least one carp), and less than 3 pounds split the top two.
Mick Bull (peg 24) took top weight with 67-14 by switching between method feeder and pole (pellet and corn). This consisted of 5 carp weighing 39-03 (three on method feeder and two on pole) and 28-11 of skimmer bream taken on the pole.
On peg 10, Adam Wakelin caught skimmer bream steadily throughout the latter part of the match to amass a weight of 51-02, then added a carp of 14-03 taken on corn from his margin just before the end to total 65-05 for second place.
Jack Harness (peg 26) had the bulk of his 49-07 for third place on the method feeder, which included four carp for 36-15, while in contrast, Oliver Sleath fished maggot on the pole (number six elastic) for his fourth placed 44-04 which included a carp of 16-00 with the rest a mixture of roach, perch and skimmers.
Moz Williams fifth placed 39-13 (including 4 carp for 33-01 on the feeder) was from peg 28, Gary Cook’s sixth placed 22-09 (including one carp) was from peg 20.
Many thanks to Oggy for his operation of the scales ensuring a quick and efficient weigh in.
