Report:
Once again the weather was horrible. Throughout the day there was a cold, strong, and gusting wind from the right and in anglers’ faces, then 90 minutes from the end the wind increased and it rained – continuing right through the weigh-in and whilst packing up. Add to that that the recent heavy rain had apparently sharply dropped water temperatures making fish reticent to feed, and it was not a pleasant day to fish.
That said, Steve Richards on peg 25, once he had set up his long-range feeder gear, had a decent day and ended with a decent 37-14 for the win. With wafter bait, Steve caught three decent carp, a stocky plus several skimmers in the latter half of the match (all after Terry Winstone on peg 27 called it a day as he had two wet feet/legs).
In the driving rain, the only other person to weigh in was John Adamson (peg 21) who caught one large bream (around 4 lb) and several skimmers to put 7-14 on the scales. All his fish fell to method feeder fished short in the last 90 minutes.
