        OPEN MATCH RESULT/REPORT
        EVENT: THURSDAY “NISA” OPEN MATCH
        VENUE: MEADOWLANDS FISHERY – WARREN
        DATE: 17 NOVEMBER 2022
        RESULT

2nd Dave SCOTT (Top Tackle) 56-12
        3rd Steve RICHARDS 50-01
4th Terry HILL (Anvil Fishing Club) 42-11
5th John ADAMSON (Nisa Feeders) 33-08
6th Martin HINCKS (Ajax AC) 24-10

        Report:
The weather was quite inclement, much cooler, with a brisk wind throughout the day and continual rain from the time of arrival at the venue and for the first three hours of the match. In spite of that everyone fishing caught at least 20 lbs of fish although not all bothered to wait for the scales afterward. One point of note was that not one single fish was caught from the margins – probably as a result of the cold rain.

On peg 18 (and facing the wind) Steve Beard started on a method feeder and caught carp within minutes. Over the next hour, he had several more before he stopped getting indications and switched to pole to target skimmers. Fishing with the pole, baiting with corn over micro feed he caught steadily to end with an 85-14 total and the win. His catch was made up of around 25 pounds of carp and the rest skimmer bream.

Dave Scott (peg 8) on his first visit to the lake caught a couple of carp on bomb and pellet and added a few more when he switched to pole and pellet later on. He also caught skimmers to end with 56-12 to task second spot.

On peg 24 Steve Richards also faced the weather throughout the match. He had three carp for 13-02 on the method feeder and added 36-15 of skimmers on the pole and pellet for his third-placed 50-01 total.

Of the others to weigh in, Terry Hill (4th) was on peg 27 for his 42-11, John Adamson (5th) was on peg 12 for his 33-08 and Martin Hincks (6th) was on peg 10 for his 24-10.

Many thanks to Steve Beard for his assistance on the scales. The attached photos show the top two (Steve with the bulk of his skimmers).

Next week we return to Lambsdown with the pegs on the “Deeps”.

NB. Nisa Opens are held at Meadowlands most THURSDAYS (see Facebook “Nisa – midweek open matches”). Book in at the venue at 8:15 am on match day.
