        Report:
With a light SW wind blowing throughout the draw, the odd fish topping anglers were optimistic about a good match. Unfortunately, after a promising first 90 minutes, the wind switched North, turned cold, and generally the fish stopped feeding.

John Adamson on peg A15 started the match well. After a quiet first 30 minutes, he started to catch carp on the bomb and bread for the next hour, until the wind switched and bites ceased. A switch to method feeder tight over resulted in three fish in as many casts, including a “near double”, but after that only a couple more on bread and one on corn were caught. His 53-01 total was enough for the win.

On the opposite bank on peg B19, Matt Gaetto had a single carp on the bomb. Concentrating on the pole at 13m, and baiting with corn Matt caught several decent bream and skimmers for a lovely net of fish weighing 42-08 for second place.

Shaun Greenfield on peg A21 had three carp in the first 90 minutes, then sat biteless for the remainder of the match. It was enough for third place, edging his brother Wayne (peg B24), who had two early carp on bomb and bread for 10-06, into fourth place. Rich Neale, who lost a large carp, managed 9-00 for fifth place with his catch of skimmers and hybrids from peg A13, all taken on pole and pellet.

Many thanks to Wayne and Shaun for assistance with the weigh-in. The photos show the top three with their catches plus Rich’s fifth-placed catch.
