A lot of the best fishing in Norfolk is on the tidal parts of the river. Nowhere is very far from Norwich but the only problem with the City is getting from one side to the other!
The upper stretches of the rivers have been badly affected by abstraction, the R’s Wensum and Yare in particular. The Bure, Ant, Thurne and Waveney are not too bad.
For the stick float you could do a lot worse than the Bure around St Benets Abbey or the Thurne at Cold Harbour. Both places you can park by the river and walk from there upstream or down. Both parts of the river are available on the Norwich & District AA book which is a mere
The R Yare is brilliant for roach from mid August onwards until mid October around the Beauchamp area where there is parking. Day tickets are available on the bank or a Gt. Yarmouth ticket can be purchased from the bailiff.
In the winter there is very good roach fishing on the stick float at riverside road in Norwich City centre or on the Waveney around Beccles. Both have free fishing.
