TF_TJI was told that he said one of the Hayfield lads was cheating, the lad gave him a slap and launched him in Lee.
-
12/06/2011 at 9:34 pm #143537
TF_carpcruncherParticipantwho launched him in?

TF_NathanWatsonHaha! Thought he was messing about at first, Neil Copeland hit me, not hard, I turned and walked away and he pushed me in lake! Wish I’d hit him back now but didn’t want to get in trouble!

No they had already leaked at the crotch and they were Tournament Gore-Tex!
I thought the lad was a mate and just having a laugh but got nasty as he got beat and caught cheating! (In my opinion)

AnonymousI was with Nathan and Neil and witnessed the whole thing from start to finish. Im amazed that Neil never hit Nathan much earlier and much harder.
Nathan was asked several times to stop his verbal attack on Neil but he carried it on calling Neil a cheat.
I even attempted to explain to Nathan that he was wrong in his claim that Neil was fishing out of his zone/peg. He was not having it and continued to attack Neil. So, Nathan got what he deserved in the end.
Neil was so upset and angered by what had happened. That i had to take over weighing the rest of the lake in instead of Neil.

13/06/2011 at 12:26 pm #143586
TF_NathanWatsonYou are wrong! He fished past the 1 empty peg between him and the next angler! Which 1 were you anyway? Besides, calling someone a cheat is no excuse to hit them, especially when what I said was true!

AnonymousNathan, the rule on many venues is that you can fish halfway to the next angler and not just to the next peg/platform as you claimed. That is the case on Hayfield and/or for this match. Rob Hitchens told you as much when you asked for Neil to be banned for cheating. Not the only thing Rob said to you but the rest is unrepeatable on this forum.
Neil fished within his zone/peg(halfway to the next angler). The other angler in the corner fished as long as he wanted or was able to fish and was ok with where Neil was fishing. It was you who egged the angler on in the corner to fish longer and to challenge where Neil was fishing. It was you who complained about Neil for most of the day.
If you honestly believed that Neil was cheating. Then you should have contacted the match organiser or fishery manager and made a complaint at the time. The angler in the corner with Neil could have made a complaint about where Neil was fishing. You never made the complaint to the match organisers or fishery manager and neither did the other angler in the corner. You complained to Rob after the match and he said Neil had stayed within the rules and that you where wrong.
Nathan, you cannot call an angler a cheat without the angler then getting very upset. He warned you several times to leave him alone but you continued to call him a cheat.
Im the angler who shared the section win with you (same weight).

AnonymousNot a good day for Nathan overall but could have been worse. I weighed Nathan in. Could have called 48.9. However, im not a cheat and asked Nathan to confirm 48.10 which he did. £25 is better than a slap in the chops and getting very wet, lol

TF_mart16very contentious issue this fishing to the next angler or into spare pegs when your the endpeg.organisers must make the rules known to everyone before the start.
i think its a poor show when it gets to blows! -

TF_carpcruncherParticipantwas the peg empty all Match or was there someone on there and then decided to walk??

13/06/2011 at 3:30 pm #143619
AnonymousThere was a long bank to an over hanging tree on Neils bank in to the corner. Neil was second to end peg on my bank. Only 9/10 meters between pegs. Angler in the corner was at least 20 meters to that end peg on Neils bank if he fished at an angle to that empty platform.
Neither angler went past halfway to each other.
Nathan claimed that the water up to the end peg on Neils bank was as fare as Neil could go and that the angler on the other bank could fish up to the end peg on Neils bank more than 20 meters away.
The end peg next to Neil was empty all match.
The angler on Nathans bank went for a walk several times or at least went to get out of the rain. He never complained about where Neil was fishing during the match or complained to anybody else after the match.
Nathan was the one complaining about Neil and was egging the angler in the corner to fish further towards the empty platform on Neils bank. Nathan was calling Neil a cheat though out the day for fishing past the start of the empty platform.

TF_redarmynot really in the spirit of the intersite ,but quite a few anglers yesterday were not forum regulars and got on the match looking for a decent pickup.a lot of hayfield regulars fished yesterday who probably wouldnt of bothered if it was on at the oaks as in previous years, maybe something to think about when picking a venue for next year.

13/06/2011 at 3:59 pm #143623
TF_redarmythanks to all the tf lads who turned up yesterday,it threw up some decent weights but in the main was very peggy.there was too many on the match in my opinion for the amount of pegs available with virtually every peg having to be put in meaning unless you had a corner peg you couldnt really fish a margin peg with anglers about 8-9yds apart.enjoyed it other than the rain but would be a lot fairer with less anglers.

I think you need to understand that we are all mates (normally) and that is what we do, wind each other up about cheating etc! Neil does it more than anyone in the opens!

AnonymousI agree Nathan. Problem was that you went to fare and would not let it go. Neil warned you several times and you continued. When you asked if he was hard enough. I think he saw red. You cannot blame Neil for reacting after the abuse you gave him. Rather more than healthy banter imho.
Totally agree with redarmy. For me, MFS won the Northen intersite. So, well done to them! The other teams had anglers fishing who where only there to win some easy money. Many of the top 3 teams on the day and the top 4 individuals never post on any of the forums.
Im sure there was a rule in the past stating that anglers had to have posted at least 10 times in the year to be able to fish this event. Clearly, this rule was ignored this year and the local stars took most of the money and made the team event inevitable!

TF_GaryHow crass? If people are seriously fishing ‘friendly’ intersite matches to try and make money, they should take a long hard look at themselves.
Simple solution is to cut the pools money to deter these people from infiltrating.

Anonymousseems like theren are alot of jealous people out there and pull a match to bits over competition, these people should a gone pleasureing if this is the case,as for nathan what happened was bang out a order and the opnly thing that let nathan down was he didnt give him one back, lot a people pull the lad to bits but hes without doubt one of the top match anglers in the country his cv tells you that, its just sometimes his mouth lets him down, but overall not a bad lad,a cant see why people are pulling him to bits when if they were there why didnt they open there mouths and say it like men rather than been coputer warriors,SAD if you ask me

TF_redarmynot got any problems with any caliber of angler fishing jamie who contributes on the forums, weve fished plenty of forum matches in the past with people like giles ,steve ringer, andy may, keiron etc the difference is they all do or did post.a lot of anglers who fished sunday i would be surprised if they have even been on a forum, last thursday when i spoke to simon there was about 75-80 on the match people turned up sunday who had only registered on a forum the day before just to get on a local venue thats why we ended up with 96 fishng

AnonymousJamie W, i traveled 115 miles each way. A 230 mile round trip to fish a team match against other regular forum users on a venue i had never seen before. When i got there i found a who,s who of Hayfield regulars whom dont post on any of the forums. Im guessing those anglers saw the likes of myself and many of the other forum users as easy pickings. It certainly turned out that way with most of the individual and team winnings going to none forum local yocal Hayfield anglers.
As has already been said. None of us who fished this match have a problem with the likes of Nathan Watson fishing. In fact, most of us would ask why he was not fishing this match as he is one of us. A regular forum user! The fact that he is a very good angler does not come in to it. Its the same with the likes of Steve Ringer and Giles to name just a few. They are more than welcome to fish these matches as they give so much back to anglers on this and some of the other forums.
As for Nathan,s conduct. He is a good lad and a very good angler but he went to fare with his mouth and so it was shut for him. and, i was there and told him that he was wrong and that he needed to back off as did a few others but Nathan being Nathan was not going to let it go.

TF_DATDid’nt there used to be a peg map at Hayfield showing where you could fish?Been a while since I fished there but I am pretty sure that when it first opened there were strict rules on where you could (and could’nt) fish.

TF_Bazza4662ParticipantI was seriously thinking of giving this a go this year, i am so glad i did not and will not in the future.
The whole essence of these matches is to have a bit of banter, fun, catch a few fish and then have the bragging rights for the next 12 months in a friendly manner.
An important point here to remember is that when you enter into a ‘match’ then you are entering into a ‘ competition ‘, which in turn makes people do things that they would not normally do because all of a sudden it is win at all costs, sense and sensibility dissappears !!!
The other point here is about the Hayfield regulars taking the cash…..as has been said already…….,it is toally 100% out of order !!. If they are not registered they should not take part, simples, but how do you police it ?? The locals enter because given a decent draw, its easy money !
This had trouble written all over it from the beginning, even though it was done with all the very best intentions and the thankless work and effort that the organisers put into it……they deserve respect for what they have achieved. -
17/06/2011 at 8:51 am #116184
TF_NathanWatsonTo be fair, although a lot in the winning team and top individuals are not regulars on forums, they are also NOT Hayfield regulars!
