TF_Gary the gudgeonReading the posts on this sight it is obvious that the majority of football experts [there are a couple of notable exceptions] on here only have an opinion after the event or when they have read the next days papers.

TF_dirkdigglerif the other night proves anything it’s that the best in this country is no where near good enough to compete with the best in europe.
however just like the national game nothing will be done about it.
the first sign of madness is wanting things to change and then doing nothing about it.
so enjoy your so called beautiful game you deserve it. -

TF_NW Cut AnglerWhat do you want Gary. I am a Man U supporter. I spoke with close friends and we all said we thought everything would need to go our way and play the game of our lives to beat Barca but we did not go shouting it because yes we wanted Man U to win.
What are you expecting from people?
Are you volunteering to run a tipster competition pre season?
So much is not rocket science. The top 5 will nearly always be the top 5 in 2012 give or take 1 team losing their spot. The promoted tems, those avoiding relegation in 2011 will always be the prime relegation candidated in 2012. Barca will be the best team again in 2012.
I have not seen you say much that has been credible or insightful and to be honest I presumed you were a troll on a wind up.
Enlighten us all.

TF_Gary the gudgeonNWCut Angler thanks for the spelling correction, perhaps you could explain what “homest” means. Not everything revolves round Man.Utd. so I do not understand your post, like Herbie I watch and enjoy all levels of football and have yet to discover another team whose matches last 96 minutes instead of the customary 90 minutes and who when playing at home do not give away penalties no matter how bad the foul [ ie. Neville]

TF_Gary the gudgeonWell the new season is almost upon us and several things spring to mind………..
West Ham will be promoted playing a long ball and physical game.
Liverpool will play attractive and attacking football and finish in the top 5
Manchester United will be again be challenging for the premiership title.
Manchester City will contest them all season.
Arsenal will be brilliant and dreadful in equal measure.
Chelsea will be even more boring.

TF_MICK THE BOOKIEYour point is taken young Brian.   .
I followed my beloved Gunners home and away from 1970 to 1990,and even went to see them abroad(Fairs cup).I infact became very good friends with many of their players.Charlie George and i still talk on the phone, mainly because he loves a bet,but sometimes he just wants to chat about the old days.We had some great times in the clubs in London with Peter Storey(hardest player to pull on an Arsenal shirt imo),who never had a bad game for England,Ray Kennedy(got the winning header at Tottenham to win us the league)George Armstrong, and even “stroller” George Graham, although he never bought a drink..lol.
I know i dont go to the games now although Charlie(George)has taken me round the Emirates twice, and will always get me a ticket for any game(he works for them and does alot of PR,and corporate functions)if i want to go.I am just to old and getting slower in the bar and clubs, and find i cant handle the late nights anymore. But my memories are with me,and i still love my “babies”to death.I will be honest now,and my football chums will verify it if you want….In the last 2/3 years i cant even watch them live as they drive me mad,and my blood pressure rises to its limit as they play their tippy tap brilliant football and try to score that perfect goal.Infact i had a blackout in my own boozer when i watched them once, and i swore i`d never watch them again live.
However once i know the result i watch the recorded game, but only if its won or drawn, cause i know the effect it has on me if they get beat.I watched the game with Newcastle last year when we were 4-0 up,and i swear i nearly died of a massive heart attack when it ended up 4-4.Dont even go there when we were 2-0 up with Spurs and got beat.
So Brian,,,please spare a thought for us old timers…we just cant take it anymore…One day you will be the same, and Brentford will lose one of its loyal supporters. 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 -
13/07/2011 at 5:31 am #145369
TF_Gary the gudgeonproper tidal boy, I can assure you that I go to many games in the course of a season just to watch the improvement and development of many of the younger players, however the English boys seem to stop developing once they have played a few Premiership games, it’s apparent they think they have made it and do not need to work on their game anymore. Rooney and Ronaldo being a classic example, both being the same age when joining Utd.and to my mind only Ronaldo is still progressing.while Rooney has become increasingly predictable.

13/07/2011 at 7:43 am #145375
TF_herbievery interesting comment gary. but! you fail to take into account the fact that managers develope tactics to smother so called stars very quickly. even ronaldo found it difficult towards the end and is now playing in a two team league that with exceptions is about as strong as our championship. the trouble is you forget with time and only remember the good things. ( this is true in all things) and forget the rubbish games these superstars actually have. a prime example of my point was Charlie Adams. brilliant first half of the season , then the other clubs took notice and stopped him playing. taggart soon realised that its defenders who win you leagues and built on that strength with the knowledge that other managers were busy developing tactics to stop rooney/ronaldo so he designed a side built on the AC Milan team whereby there are no forwards to speak of and attack with numbers from midfield. this is difficult to play against because you don’t know who will break forward at any one time. hence the number of goals scored by united were the same but the stars scored less. this in turn leads to people saying there not progressing. but they do not take into account that its a team game.
my 2011/2012 predictions . (added).
AFC Wimbledon will win div 3.
Burnley will be the team to watch in the championship.
Sheffield clubs will take the top 2 places in div 1.
Charlie Adams will be forgotten by christmas.
man city will get a shirt deal worth 500 million per year to cover there wage bill.
Truro will be the non league superstars.
this seasons prem will be won with less than 80 points.
Chelsea will struggle.
Torres will score.
Gerard will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.
arsenal will be potlless again -
